Scuba certification referral anyone?

I love freediving and spearing my fish that way, but I get a lot of pressure from my wife to bring her big lobsters all the time:lol:

So now, I have a reason to get Scuba certified and do night dives to get good size lobsters.

From my research I learned that it could take a week.

Questions: Where in San Diego would I find the best training and the best value?
Should I bother getting certified in CA? or go to FL or a nice tropical island to get it done?

I assume since I live here in South Cali I should learn it in our waters.

Any recommendations?
