I'm thinking of buying a 2 gas computer. Since I haven't had a chance to dive with any 2/3 gas computer, I thought that I would tap the collective experience of the Spearboard crew.
Which one would you recommend or advise against?
I'm kinda looking for the PRO's & CON's of different computers.

Thanks,
Jeff

You may wanna try scubaboard or maybe even rodales for this one.Be sure to mention what you're planning to use it for;).

I am selling a Zeagle Status 2 for a friend who was shipped to the middle east. He has the PC download kit as well. I think he payed around $1000.00 for it...he is wanting $450.00 it has had very little use. It also has all the instruction manuels.

If you want an air integrated multi-gas, the Suunto Vytec is a good choice. You can program three gasses and switch between them during the dive. It uses the conservative Suunto program, and that is a turn off to some guys.

OK, what can you tell me about the Zeagle? I know absolutely nothing about it. Is it AI? Conservative or liberal? .....
BTW: AI isn't all that important to me (although nice to have). I'm just looking for general opinions on the different models. You can read my opinion of Suunto below.....

Scott, I own a Suunto Vyper and don't think I'll ever buy another Suunto computer again unless they make one that will let ME decide how conservative I want it to be. It's a great unit for the average diver. I just don't like it for the type of diving I do and feel It's just way too conservative for hardcore spearfishing.

It does allow some degree of choice, however, in that there are three user profiles you can program in for how conservative you want. I use the most liberal setting, which is still conservative. However, I did get multiple deep dives in last trip, and made as many drops as those with less conservative computers.

We speared with a hard core shooter a few weeks ago that was using a Zeagle computer. I know nothing about the thing, but he told me it's extremely liberal.

Kim and I have SUUNTO Cobras. We are going to be moving on to a 2 or 3 gas computer ourselves, but we don't mind the conservative profile of SUUNTO. I'm thinking seriously about the Vytec, since I REALLY like the air integration feature. I like being able to check my SAC rate.

Bob-

My first computer was a COBRA, and when I wanted a multi-gas, one of the reasons I went with the Vytec is the identical layout to the COBRA. If you know how to operate your COBRA, then you know how to operate a Vytec. There are just a couple of extra things to know (e.g., multi-gas input), but it's basically all the same.

What multigas refer to?Are we talking capable of using gases other than air and nitrox(trimix,heliox,etc..)or just capable of adjusting nitrox from 21% to 100%.

In the context I am using it, capable of inputting three different Nitrox mixes.

Your right Scott,
Switching to the Vytec from the Cobra involves very little relearning, and I already understand the display. Kim's and my reason to move on is so we can do deco with 100% O2. We don't intend to dive much deeper than 150, so we really only need two gas choices. Just wish the Vytec with transmitter was a somewhat more reasonable price :-)

Try diverite or cochran.

Accelerated deco with a multi-gas,even a Suunto will get you out sooner than any 1 gas computer. Also don't really believe rodales when deco diving. Some computers like my Oceanic are very liberal til deco timethen they tack it on quick. On 1 long dive my "liberal" Oceanic had me at 3 at 20' and 18 at 10'.My buddies Uwatec gave him 1@20' and 8@10'.Identical profile as it was in a cave.
