Hi All,
Rob has just forwarded me a News Flash on the latest upgrade to the Vecta Mechanism.
I cannot get it to open on SB :>(
It appears to be in some form of "Adobe Reader 9" Format.
Any suggestions on how to change it?
Otherwise PM me and I will forward it to you via standard emial.
Thanks,
Mike

Did the safety stay the same or did they modify that as well? I would think they would try to resolve that issue by now.

Hey Mike,
You are welcome!
A quick question: Is the updated mechanism enclosed on a detachable cassette like the old one? If yes, will it fit the current Vecta handle so existing owners can simply change the cassette to get the new mechanism without having to buy the whole handle again?
Please let us know.
Thanks,
Claudio

Hi Dylan,
The safety and trigger part of the new mechanism seems to be the same.
From the photos of the new mechanism, it looks like the changes were mainly in the sear, sear-spring, line release (now steel) and cassette floor (now closed).
Here is the photo of the current (now old) Vecta mechanism for you to compare the two:
It has been VERY hard for me to keep quiet about this.
Thank you RA and Mike of FF for this long awaited improvement:toast:

Some of them had misfiring issues but that was a rare thing.
Claudio this new mech seems to be a cassette style just like the "old one". It should be very easy to replace. I wished they would of made the actual trigger lever in metal too.
Mike when are you going to update your website and have these available? What's the price going to be?

Hi Spearos,
Slinginsteel: I am trusting that the safety issue is a thing of the past.
The Dive Factory has assured me that the safety hang up was also addressed in the new design.
However since those spearos south of the equator never use their safety's, I await the testing in the USA market with about 95% confidence that the issue is solved :>)
Tiburon,
They tried the trigger in s/steel as well, but it appears that "galling" of the trigger against the sear was a hassle when the gun was really loaded up with twin tight bands. They then changed back to composite.
As soon as I see the Invoice for the new cassettes I will announce prices and update my website.
Looks like I will also be announcing the new Distributor for RA reasonably soon as well.
Yes I have been super busy and the next few weeks look even worse.
Claudiosub3.
Yes the new cassette will drop into the existing Vecta Handles.
Hau,
Please pop into the shop sometime. The new cassettes should be available just before Blue Wild. My consignment lands in Miami on Tuesday and should be released by Customs within this coming week.
PS Those South Africa Paddle skis should be here soon as well. Would like you to put one through its paces.
Everyome Else,
Thanks for the support.
Regards,
Mike.

HI Tiburon,
My website will probably be the last place to look for them.
They should be at the Dealers before I get around to them on my retail website.
My Customs Broker is dealing with the paperwork at the moment and all being well I hope to pick up from Miami around the end of this week.
I have had a Dive Factory Invoice and Rob has greatly reduced the price of both the complete Vecta Handle and the new drop in Vecta cassette.
The Handle should now be less than $100 and the cassette should be in the upper $50's.
This is still a little expensive I know, but a lot better than the previous prices.
Regards,
Mike.
