Hello everyone,

I have recently began freediving for stripers, fluke, and tautog around Charlestown Beach, RI. I went out last weekend and was having trouble with visibility. Does anyone have any tips as to when or where might be my best bet as to seeing some fish ( high, low, incoming, outgoing tides?) I really have no idea as to how tides affect visibility, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks for listening and I look forward to hearing back from you guys.

Sorry man, didn't pick up on the sarcasm. I grew up in RI, from what I can remember good vis was hit or miss, but usually the best vis is right before high tide getting worse as the tide goes out . I'm actually gonna be up there next week to visit family and will be bringing my guns. Last visit in June I snorkeled in Gansett and had pretty good vis, 15'-20, saw the mother lode! Lots of fat togs and big stripers, I didn't have a gun though. Hopefully the vis will be good and the fish are still there, I've never seen a diver or spearo there.

I have not been out snorkeling lately but I have been fishing alot from Charlestown Beach to West Beach and the Stripers are big and plentiful. I have never had such good success off the rocks with big fish this early in August. I hope to get in the water this weekend and test my luck. Good luck to you next week, I'm sure you'll find some good bass to shoot.
