Does anyone know of a source for a Lycra Dive Skin in Cammouflagge ?
During a discussion on the "other gear" forum this subject came up.
Has anyone ever made up such a item from a skin they already had ?
Is there a retail source out there somewhere ?
Being an "old nam era dude", those bright recreational diver colors have always grated on me.
I tend to chose the more drab colors when buying gear.
An ash gray tee shirt suits me , but a white tee shirt is a little "loud".
Your ideas appreciated.

I don't know if they have lycra, but you might check out the camo suits at http://www.bluewaterhunter.com/

I emailed Bluewaterhunter, they only have the light wetsuit.
They didn't know of any source for a dive skin in cammo.
I kept searching untill I found this patern. See attachment.
Do you think that if a dive skin was large enough to go over different wetsuit configurations, it might cause problens during a dive ?

I don't know the answer to your question because I don't know anyone who layers a dive skin over a wetsuit. I do know people who layer wetsuits over each other when it gets cold and that seems to work OK (although I've never done it myself).

Why don't you just get a light camo wetsuit? Is it because you want to use the skin over wetsuits of different thicknesses and want to avoid buying a number of different camo wetsuits?

My thought is that while a skin is nice in warm water conditions, it may not offer the same abbraision resistence that you get with a normal wetsuit. If you are going to use the camo skin over a wetsuit, the skin is going to take the bulk of the punishment from reefs, lobsters, fish, etc. Maybe the best thing is to buy a lighter camo wetsuitone or two sizes larger and layer it over your other wetsuit.

I dive in 70-83 degree conditions most of the time and have never felt too warm or restrained in my 3/2 regardless of how warm the water is. I have no current plans for a skin.

I use an old USAF flight suit when it gets warm enough for a skin. It works perfect, velcro "tighteners" on the wrists and ankles, thick enough to provide good abrasion resistance, brass zippers, a pocket on the thigh, and most importantly, they are made of nomex so the danger of spontaniously combusting while diving is GREATLY reduced.:D

Look at the pic Jeffe posted. What's wrong with this picture?

I would assume (you know how much trouble that can cause) that if I were going to buy a camo wetsuit so that the fish couldn't see me, I wouldn't be wearing BRIGHT YELLOW fins.

These skins are primarily for the ladies, but there are a couple of patterns on here that might have underwater camouflage applications.
