Long time lurker. I don't spear but I do freedive and I do eat fish

I'm thinking of an extended holiday in NZ and I'm looking for some info on Auckland. I'll probably be going there for about a year and I want info on Auckland neighbourhoods. Where do all the crackhead car-thiefs hang out in Auckland, where is the Fancypants-ferraridriving neighbourhood etc. I want to do a preliminary search for accommodation here and from personal experience apartment hunting you need a bit of local knowledge to separate the wheat from the chaff when reading craigslist.

If there are NO neighbourhoods in Auckland that you would like to live in that would be great to hear that too.

Ideally I'd like to talk/email/PM with someone who has been there and spent time in Auckland sometime in the last 2-5 years.

Spearboard don't fail me now!

This was posted in the off topic forum because it's not spearing related but It wasn't getting any hits so I moved it.

Auckland's great.
Look for a flat on the North Shore.

Man, I so want to move to NZ... The wife and I have talked about it for a long time. Beautiful country, outdoors everything, All Blacks! Having kids in college sucks... Of course, when you're only 178cm and 79kg, playing rugby in Japan is deffinately the safer bet.
