We have had numerous requests the past couple years for 3/4" bands and bulk 3/4" band material. We will be making custom 3/4" bands in 1" increments so you can really dial in the power you want. All of our 3/4" bands will be made using black tubing and will be available in traditional hard "wire type" wishbones as well as our signature 3/32" dia. stainless cable wishbones.

Our wire wishbones are made using a heavy gauge 2.5mm spring stainless wire which should perform well with the 3/4" tubing. However, the stainless cable wishbones will be more durable and less likely to break, especially if you are a freeshafter and you shoot 15 or more times per dive.

I have not had a chance to test specific lengths for specific gun lengths yet, but my initial testing shows that you will need to add 1 to 2 inches in band length if you move up to 3/4" tubing. I will be adding these new bands to our next catalogue which we plan to do this winter. We do not have model #'s for these bands yet so in the meantime just tell your dealer to order them for you by dia. and length.

The 3/4" bands will slide into the Commercial muzzles but you will need to lubticate the band hole a little to get the band to slide in. Spray silicon or dishwashing liquid will do the trick. However, don't overlubricate the band hole because you don't want the band slipping freely from side to side when loading the band.

Bugged, what length & dia. are you currently using? If 5/8" dia. you will want to add 1 to 2 inches depending how punchy you want the shot to be.

I use what you catalog calls for on the 60"

I have both but Usually only use one, is there a benefit to the 3/4" bands?

I'm not sure, but some guys swear buy them. I don't have any personal experience with 3/4" bands but you may want to give one a try and see if you like it. You will be using a longer band so it may be a little easier to reach but it will be a little harder to pull back.

Larger (3/4") dia. bands are probably harder on the trigger mechanism and definitely more prone to breaking steel or wire type wishbones. I would stay with the cable wishbones if you tend to shoot a lot.

I use 3/4" bands on my guns, and I like them quite a bit, when using just 1 band I definately think that the 3/4" makes a big difference.

One nice thing about the 3/4" bands is, once you get used to loading them and you use a 5/8" band, they seem real easy to pull back.

bigger bands, more bands, rock bands? if you have to add length to a band then wouldn't it just make it be the same as having a thinner shorter band? i'm just going on pure guess with a little bit and logic on this one. but here is how i see it. if you over power your shaft it will flutter in the water. your spear has a maximum amount of force that it can take. so i would think that a 3/4 band with added length will still only bring the same amount of power to your spear. if the 3/4 band seems like it is much better for your gun you've probably never had the right sized 5/8 band. for example i use about a 22 inch 5/8 band on a 64 inch gun. i've got this gun dialed in to remove sea lice from a mini mangos nose at 30 feet.

i'm no expert but i've tried 3/4 band before and i went right back to the 5/8

sorry kevin i didn't mean to lower those 3/4 band sales

Like I said....it seems to be a love hate thing among most of the shooters I have talked to. We have had numerous requests for 3/4" bands so I decided to add them. Buy them if you like them! Try them if you haven't!

The 3/4 may be the answer for people that do not have an apien reach and like to shoot a long gun. Fishkilla, take your father for example. He moved up to a larger gun, but because of his size he may not be able to reach a 5/8 bad on a long gun. String up a 3/4 band on that same gun and the reach is no longer an issue. But the power is the same. A larger band may be able to take more stress at the high end of it's work load before failure also. More shots per band because it is not stresed as much.
