What’s up all,

Had a great time diving the last 3 days completing Tec 50 class with Phillipe Yersin of the Eastern Academy of Scuba Education (EASE House) (http://easedivepro.com/) in Vero Beach- Just thought Id share my experience.
I took TDI deco procedures /adv. EANx last summer and have accumulative about 50 dives in doubles and about 20 planned deco dives since then. Tec 50 seemed to pickup right where they left off. Spent the first day on knowledge reviews, gas planning and pool practicing doing valve drills, buoyancy skills, sac calcs ect and swimming around with two deco cylinders in addition to double LP85s. Played around with stacking and left-lean, right-rich configuration and decided that L-R was right for me at this point. We dove V-Planner for all dives.

Monday three of us did two dives on the Capt Dan in Pompano Dive with Avid Charters. First dive was spent on skills and completing simulated deco stops starting at 70' all the way to 15'. The second dive we actually got to explore the inside of the ship and planned for 7 minutes of total deco.

Yesterday was the best. Got to spend some time exploring the Miller Lite wreck. Our plan was to spend 35 minutes at 155' on 23/30 with 32% and 80% for deco RT= 69 minutes . Dive went spectacular and even caught sight of a BEAST hogfish out in the sand. We threw bags from 120' and had an uneventful, calm deco. It was an experience diving trimix for the first time- absolutely no noticeable narcosis on the bottom- in fact, I seemed to notice more when I switched to my first deco gas at 130’. Its hard to describe the difference in breathing resistance when switching to back gas after breathing 80% for 20 minutes. I also got COLD towards the end of the dive.

Attached is the planned profile and my actual dive from yesterday.- you’ll notice that, because my computer was still tracking dives from the previous day, I was unable to set it for gauge mode- disregard the erroneous data.

Tec training was a blast- anyone interested in deeper diving should take the time to get trained properly- Being able to spend some real time on the deeper stuff SAFELY makes it worth it. I highly recommend Philippe to anyone interested in progressing deeper.

I am finishing up my Tec-65 class this weekend in Key Largo, with Horizon Divers. Going to hit the Northern Light and Queen of Nassau wrecks. What a difference a little helium makes. Did a 187fsw dive two weeks ago on the NL, and had a clear head. I even remembered the dive after it was over!

Been doing a lot of deco diving with nitrox over the last few years, ever since taking the two TDI courses with Chad Carney, but knew it was time to get my training up to my experience level and learn how to use trimix. Much safer that way.

I'll do the PADI full trimix course in the spring, and then complete the instructor course next summer. Seems to be a lot of demand for training up to the Tec-50 level - especially as it relates to spearfishing with decompression.

Hope you all have a great holiday!
