i was looking at diffrent wetsuits for sale on the internet, and i was wondering about this henderson gold core. is the gold core wetsuit "technology" really worth the extra 200 (or more) dollars? would i be just as warm, comfortable, and flexable with a normal neopreime wetsuit made by henderson, or any other comany for that matter. i was wondering what was so special about it and what made it so damn expensive.

I wear a gold core 5mil suit and am very happy with it. Have a lot of dives on it and the only problem is that just a few threads are starting to loosen up. I really can't complain, I have worn it a lot and all dives have been hard core spearfishing, and I cant say that I take the best care of it. If you only want a couple years out of a suit buy a cheaper one every two years. If you want one good suit buy a henderson gold core and have it a long time.

I forget the brand name but the core is called cobalt, different color core but same technology. About half the cost. I have the 3mm gold core jumpsuit and it is enough with hood down to about 60 degrees. The purpose of the lining is that it lets very very little water in and hardly no water movement. Also with mine about 5 minutes out of water it is completely dry.

Have a 5 mil gold core. Had about 2 and 1/2 years. Last Spring, after about 35 dives or so, had seam on upper thigh/groin split wide open. Apparently, only a couple of stiches and some glue hold it together. Sent it to Henderson and they fixed it up. Very warm suit and dries well. After about 50 dives, the material inside (gold) got sticky, so no longer like jeans to put on like it was when new - and now need to get suit wet to get it on. Mixed opinion here...not sure if would purchase again, but it IS warm and dries fast...

I have been talking to a friend that owns a diveshop that carries Hendersons and his opinion is that the new "hyper stretch" 7mm is superior to the Gold Core. At leisure pro the hyperstretch is cheaper than the Gold core:confused:
He says the Hyperstretch can stretch over 200%. They are super easy to put on and incredibily comfortable. Seems like I been looking at every suit made trying to make a decision. I may go with the hyperstretch in a custom suit ($50 more for a custom).

Hyperstretch is not better in cold, but is better if you have a hard time with other wetsuits. Cost is a fraction of a gold core.
