Went out with Hector and new freediver Josh from SLI on Sat. Seas were 2-3 in the a.m. but we found from 0-10 feet of vis on wrecks in 40-65 ft north of inlet. Headed in to a shallower spot and found decent vis with loads of trash fish. Managed a treasure coast trash fish slam with sheepshead, bluefish, and spanish macs. This was my first time shooting blues...they are stupid approached from above or below but super sensitive lateral lines I guess. They were skitish from perpindicular. Saw a few bulls running around but no hassles. There are also some schools of regular pompano out there for any beach fisherman... stupid that these are illegal to shoot. This was the first time I've ever seen them!
Oh yeah, spanish I got went 30 in...pretty beefy and tasty sashimi as usual

I was actually going to try it as sashimi....but it looked pretty rancid filleted even after being bled and immediatly iced. I still would have tried it, but I had so much spanish mac sashimi that is good, some pompano (hook and lined of course), and I have a buch of lobbies in the freezer. I fed the blue to the great blue heron, osprey, and egrets behind my house!

I used to jig up big blues in NJ and use them for mako/thresher bait.... Heeheee so much fun. Heres a big brute I caught flukin in 06, probably about 15 lbs. Ive seen them on the buoys up in NJ once or twice, speared one that weighed about 12 lbs and had it try to kill me. Nasty fish.
