I live in Aguadilla (last 7 years), and would like to join some fellow hunters anywhere on the island. My usual spots are Crashboat, Shacks-Survival reefs, and occasionally Mar Azul area in Hatillo. I haven't done any Bluewater trips yet, novice on the reefs, and primarily use a 8' & 10' Gat-Ku Polespear. My email is shayne.mcintyre@yahoo.com

PS. Gat-Ku is making a sick little 3-prong polespear to use on Lionfish - it has a quick push-off release mechanism so you don't have to handle em' so much.

Look up Roberto Reyes on here...I've heard his name mentioned everywhere I've traveled. One of the most impressive spearos I've heard of and he lives in PR. He can at least recommend some great spots.
Eat a couple quesitos for me...I miss those things.

I'd be stoked to try the Lighthouse out...what day/time you thinking? I'm pretty flexible

I'm going to be down there May 11-15th. Already hoping to meet up with Pucho. I'll PM you again when it gets closer and maybe we can do some spearing.

Moondog,
I'll put it on my calendar, and got a few lightly if ever frequented spear zones I've been dying to explore with someone (shore dive/drifts).

I was hoping for this weekend but weather is making it impossible, still waves, good for surfing.

Yea I went bodysurfing at the "Mix" today just south of Wilderness and the water was pretty mixed up, maybe 15ft. viz, not so good. Looks like waves for days but I may try El Natural or Crashboat Wed or Thurs if you're interested.

Hey guys,

I don't often venture from the California forums, but I just learned that I will be in Puerto Rico next week for some business, and I'm thinking about extending my trip into the weekend and bringing some gear.

My hotel is off PR-37, just off PR-26 and I'll have a rental car. ("Condado" area?)

Wondering if I should (how are local conditions this time of year?), and whether anyone might be willing to point me in the right direction in terms of gear, places to try, buddying up, or maybe even a charter operator to make things easy.

I'll be with a colleague who wants to go blow bubbles, but I'd much rather free-dive and spear some local reefs (probably not blue water).

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Brent

Thank you. Roberto reached out to me and is providing me with information.

I hate the thought of visiting such a beautiful place and not getting into the water, even if it is only for a single day! :D

I'll be in the island June 5-12. I'll be staying in Ponce but I am pretty sure I can drive anywhere. I've never visited PR before so I don't have any knowledge of diving spots etc...I should be available every day unless already fishing.
