This is another video of the "overfished" red snapper that are nearly endangered. Give me a break. More of these to come.

Nice video Robert. We're heading out for our offshore maiden voyage in the new boat next Sunday. How far should I run, at minimum, to get to decent vis?

We did a trip the 13th also. The vis was good but not that good. Like finch said in a diff post the reds are everywhere! I saw the biggest red in my life on our second drop! Do the have tongues? Cause when it swam up to me I swear it stuck it out at me:mad:

I have seen snapper way bigger than my personal best.....I really did not know they got this big......(or smart, since they know we cant shoot them)
If they dont open the snapper season back up they may start eating the juvy 25" groupers for a between meal snack. Then what will the SAMFC morons do??????

based on the video I would say our *st aug* vis on the natural ledges 35+ miles out isn't as good as robert posted. we had 35-45. However the previous couple weeks we were diving taylor and desco area out of st augustine 15-20 miles out at a 15 foot stop you could still see the culverts and still hear the gags laughing at you. Have noticed the lion fish moved to deeper water. Anyone else notice that inshore artificials are devoid of them? wonder if it got to cold and pushed them deeper.

When the Grouper Closure over we can exchange rides. I can take you out in PB and you can have great vis, pretty reefs, and some fish. I'll come up there and nail a PB gag!!

That was what I noticed all spring and summer last off Jax. I was running a 16' boat, so I didn't go far or often. But within 12 miles, I didn't see a single lionfish on the wrecks and rubble. I saw a ton the year before.

just get a hold of me when you come up and I will take you. Trips are sunrise to sunset due to the long distances travelled. I have dove a bunch down there and sure is pretty, but I love the hunting up here.

Thanks Doc! I Look forward to seeing you guys and thanks for the OK to show the truth about our great diving here! Some of spearos today reported tons of flounder on the wrecks near shore. 63 degree temp on the bottom and 45-50 foot viz.

Robert,
Thanks for posting the video supporting our cause to reclaim our rights to fish. We save our money and spend it on the marine industry. What a waste of BS not being able to fish for our own dinner.
John

Was the video shot with a GOPRO?

Robert, I am considering moving up there from Tampa. I love the spearfish and it seems the visibility may be better than down here in Tampa and the Gulf waters. Whats your overall impression of spearfishing in Jax? Can you compare it to anywhere else(vis, hunting, fish types) to give me a guage? Are you a physician or someone else on this board I remember someone referring to "doc"? I am a physician and thats the reason for me asking. I appreciate any insight and information.

Thanks,

Frank

What's up man-- I need to come visit you soon!

Pretty sad up here with the ridiculous closures. Snapper are overpopulated, and now the flounder and triggers are getting decimated!!!

Not if he has any sense, every yahoo on the internet will be trying snake it.Doc spends a lot of effort and money to find cool stuff. You don't keep stuff pristine by driving right there on the opening day with all those boats around. That's a Wednsday dive;).I have purposely lead people to published stuff so they'd have something to do while I ran off to the found stuff or little known ones.Great vid Doc but until the climate of the NMFS changes or they lose some major court battles we are left as spectators and bubble blowers.Evidence does not matter to a zealot.
