The Ocean Kayak Malibu Two is a pretty slow paddle in rough water. Is the Tarpon 120 any better, worth selling the M2? I've made lots of mods on the M2 and I like the way I have it set up. It paddles fine on smooth water, but it just seems to hard to paddle when conditions deteriorate. I should have listened to Diablo's advice when I was first in the market but I was impatient and in a hurry. I'd like to go up to 14ft but I load it in a Mazda b2300 with tie downs so I'm limited on length, don't really want to buy a rack.

If you are using the Malibu II (tandem) as a single paddler, then yes, the tarpon 120 will be a lot faster, and easier glide. It doesn't have as big of a payload though. But I have dove off my Tarpon 120, full of SCUBA gear, which is heavier than freedive gear, and it did just fine.
If you can somehow go up to a Tarpon 140 (or similar size, OK Prowler 15), I'd recommend it.

I agree, You will be more happy with the Tarpon 120, for the same reasons, but I too recommend that you get the Tarpon 14. The weight difference is not that much more, and you will have better tracking and more storage length. By the way, it would be much better and safer if you broke down and bought a roof rack. You can find them on craigslist for half the cost of new, but you have to look. :thumps::beer::beer:
