Last Sunday we went out for a great day on the Bubble Watcher out of Murrells Inlet. After breakfast at the Awful Waffle (which will act as chum later in the day)

Capt. Lex took us out the 38 mile ledge on some commercial fishing numbers. Seas were 4 to 6 but more 4s than 6s so not too bad. We dropped down through clear water till about 60' and then through some snot but the bottom 30' or so were clear. Vis was bottom to top but only about 40' horizontally which is still great. The ledge really wide; probably 50', and loaded with big grouper. After trying all tactics on some of the massive rust bellies, I settled for a nice but not huge red grouper and a famale hog. Colin got a nice scamp and after our 24 minutes, we werre up for some more sea sickness on the surface. On out second drop, the big ones were just as smart as the first time we tried to kill them and stayed just out of range. That dive produced 2 more nice red grouper a big trigger. Vis was more variable dropping down to about 30' horizontally but again bottom to top. On our way in, seas calmed down for a quick ride home and a bunch of filets for me to take back to cold rainy Purdue and Colin to eat in that sub tropical paridise he calls college.

Special thanks to Lex and Petter for helping with my gear while I was hunched over the side wishing I could tie myself to the anchor and throw myself in. It is funny how I look back on it as a great day still.

Happy diving. Pics below.
