i live in newport beach ca, and my dad bought this Malibu 2 person fishing kayak a few years ago at a garage sale. we've only taken it out a handful of times to fish with rod and reel. my question is, can i dive off of it? iv never seen anyone dive off a 2 person yak. could 2 people dive off of it? where would i launch it. and what should i bring? any feedback would be appreciated. thanks

Yes I have dove off one. They are fine if you don’t have to paddle too far and its not windy. Two organized divers can dive off of it in calm conditions just fine.

Yep. Looks like it has a couple of hatches so you can stow a lot of your gear inside the hull. Get an anchor, kelp clip. And some safety gear like a dive flag, whistle and maybe a compass. The Coast Guard requires life jackets on board also. You can pretty much launch a kayak from anywhere. Shore, boat ramp, docks. Especially with 2 people.

thanks for the help, but if i get a kelp clip do i need to use it and the anchor at the same time?

No, but if you're in kelp it's a lot easier and faster to use the clip than an anchor.
