Spearooo posted this idea recently, and I have received a couple of PM's since then. The area 30-60 nm off of Steinhatchee, Fl would be a freediver's dream for those that can operate comfortably in 60-80 fsw. Structure consists of rock piles, ledges, hard bottom, and rarely dove upon wrecks. The best vis usually occurs in winter, temps average in the low to mid 60's, and currents this weekend should be light as it is in between a full, and new moon. Based on what we have done in this area with SCUBA charters, I can just about guarantee an opportunity to shoot a double rec bag limit of gag grouper, hogfish, amberjack, and a good supply of mango snapper.
We have two different scenarios in mind. A two day single overnighter will leave Fri AM, and return Sat evening at $300pp with five freedivers. A full weekend trip will leave at the same time, but will return Sun evening at $440pp also with five freedivers. The full trip will allow us to dive some more remote spots up to 70 nm offshore in up to 100 fsw, and to hit the USAF Towers located here in the NE Gulf if desired. Trip includes all meals, bait/tackle/rod n' reel if you desire to fish at night, and all the ice you need to prep your catch from the JR2 owned icehouse. Check out amenities at www.jollyrogersii.com
The crew will probably tank dive a little bit as well as freedive. We will pick out a couple sites for this while you guys are resting in between spots, and "backdive" areas after you have had first crack on spots that are particularly loaded up with fish.
We currently need three people to fill this trip. I will consider taking a sixth diver for free if they possess good video equipment, and are willing to shoot some at least semi-pro footage.
