soooo we're coming up on another grunion run this weekend... the conditions off shore are producing a few fish here and there and the islands/kelp beds around socal have been gorgeous and producing both YT and WSB if your lucky...
So who's game to try and take a trio of socal's finest in one day... 1 halibut, 1 yellowtail, 1 white sea bass? I'm thinking at least one of us can pull this off this weekend. Who's in?

That sounds interesting, but the only problem I have is when I am seeing YT and WSB it's really hard for me to leave them to find a flatty. Oh, I guess the other problem is finding YT and WSB;)

I could do halibut and wsb if I dive hard this weekend, but YT is almost out of the question for me, and many others...

Tailsurfer shoots all 3 every weekend. All 3 in one day would be awesome.

I can't this weekend but it is on my bucket list.
To top it off make sure all 3 fish add up to 100lbs. The Century trifecta.

As for the Trifecta... since this is just a for fun thing lets say there are no boundaries. I hear a few of us are heading down to baja... we'll call that within boundaries. I'm just hoping to see someone make it happen. anyway... here's the fish list that count...
Yellowtail, Tuna, Dorado, White Sea Bass and Halibut. Any 3 caught within one day will get you a gentlemenly pat on the proverbial keyboard back and the respect of your peers. Or at the very least we'll call ya a huge prick.
sooooo... I'm planning to be in the water a lot over the next few days... by jet ski, by shore dive probably and by boat if the opportunity arises... feel free to reach out if you're looking for an anchor puller... or if ya have a jet ski and are looking for a partner. lets go slay some fish!
I will give it a shot on Saturday.
Another mix that is on my bucket list is Dorado, Lobster and Abalone in 24 hours.
To do this you have some serious traveling, but it is possible on Lobster opener. I just don't know if I start in Sonoma for the Abalone or San Diego for the Dorado. The boys were trying to convince me that using a plane is cheating, but I don't know anyone that has done this here.
A couple years ago Dave nailed a Dorado on Lobster Opener, that was the start of the challenge.

If you dont care about rules and regulations or your life. You could easily do it in baja in one afternoon, or so cal for that matter.
Here in California it would just be a lot of driving. You would need to find a dodo on a paddy (the hard part) the bug and snail are easy mind the drive.

I'm trying for a hat trick on WSB. I'm not going to see any yellows unless someone is looking for another person on their boat this Sunday; I am available ;) . O' and my weekend started yesterday; one down :p...
:EDIT: I was wrong about not being able to get a yellow from a shore dive...

while you're certainly moving in the right direction, the name of this game is getting all 3 in one day. tomorrow's only friday... there's still plenty of time
oh, and... FJHIII... that is one HELLLLLL of a trifecta to go for! geeez, talk about logistics to overcome. good luck with that one.

I didn't read your first post :D. Just read the title which said about doing it in a weekend (which I blew as well, I was aiming for all in a week).
I'm curious to see if anyone can pull this off...
