So Jon "owner of Ulusub" being the stand up guy that he is, made me a great gun at an amazing price. After I ordered a 125cm enclosed track mid handle and he accidentally sent me a rear handle. Instead of shipping it back he had the rear handle sold for me before I could even post it on SB and started making my new gun right away. Not only did he give me a great price he asked if I was interested in a prototype he had been working on. A little hesitant at first since it would be a first for him, but I gave him the go ahead and Im glad I did!
This gun is amazing it's a 148cm mid handle enclosed track with an Ulusub reel, epoxy coated original. I still need to rig her up and take her for a ride but I was happy just to get my hands on her at this point. Here are a few pics. Its hard to see in the pics but it has a little bit of a cuddle fish design. Narrow at the front widening out towards the middle section then narrowing out again slightly towards the rear. Jon said he is working towards perfecting this design for full production. I have to say I like it so far!

You'll love it man. I got the 145 and it's perfect.

I only wish he had made a mistake for me...

So am I missing something here or is there something magical about 148cm? Couldn't you just get a 145 cm mid-handle (I'm pretty sure that is one of the "standard" offerings from Ulu). What's the diff between your 148 and a 145 that I've seen listed in the "ulusub sale" threads (though it is absent on the ulusub.com lineup for w/e reason).
In other news, congrats on a BEAUTIFUL gun, I hope to get an Ulusub 145 soooooooon.

The difference is 3cm bro. That's something like 1-3/16"!!!

Huge diff. ;)

Non-standard gun. That's why it's called a "prototype".

Hi, that gun was a prototype. It's a 148cm Gun, but really, it's cut down from a 155cm Gun.. So, it has the band stretch of a 155cm. I cut down the Muzzle and Butt. Then I thinned out the Stock of the Gun and shaped in some Cuttlefish Curves.. It's quite a bit more narrow in the front 1/3 of the gun, and a bit wider in the Rear 1/3 than a standard 145cm. Also there's some vertical tapering shaped into the belly. That gun almost stayed here with me.. 3 bands, 9/32" shaft. That one is a true Hand Shaped Gun.

Haha yes I could tell Jon was having second thoughts about sending me that gun lol. Ya I'm totally stoked on it I'm thinking I will try two bands first and see how I like it. I can always add another band if I need. I'm rigging this with a reel and currently have 60 meter of spectra on it with a swivel clip and 2 wraps of 200# mono. A 9/32" double shark fin threaded shaft with a mori slip tip. This thing is lethal!!!

That gun sounds insane. I have the 145 rear handle and its the best gun I have every had. Took it with me on a fishing trip last weekend and got to jump in on some paddys on the lower hidden bank and shoot yellow tail that wouldn't bite on a rod and reel. When you fire the gun, there is virtually no recoil at all. Compared to the Riffe mid handle I have, the two are night and day. Also it tracks extremely well from side to side based on its shape. The Riffe does not as its a square shape. The Riffe was a great intro gun and is good to have as a backup, but its no Ulusub.
