We have scheduled a return visit to Scuba World in Orlando for our next spearfishing seminar. The date will be Saturday April 5th at 9:00 AM to around 3:00PM. Charge is $25.00 per person and includes a Rhino T shirt and lunch.
We had 40 divers at the last show and they are rapidly filling up this one. Call soon if you plan to come. This will likely be our final out of town seminar until later this fall.
It will be pretty much a duplicate of our last visit there except I hope to spend the last couple hours going over some things we didn't get to last time. Like: Boat handling, anchoring, jugging spots, and misc equipment, loran/GPS #'s and techniques, underwater navigation, and hopefully an in depth Q&A from the audience on whatever interests you!
Call Scuba World at 407-273-3373 to reserve a spot. Their address is 5167 East Colonial Drive. Hope to see ya there!
Thanks,
Kevin (Spearfishing Specialties)

What is it with me. Every time something good comes around(like my girlfriend which is no longer), I am either sick, can't make it, or screw something up.
I will be in the keys till the 5th, and driving the boat back the 250 miles to our house by water on the 6th.
If someone tapes it, I will buy the video from you spear one.

Hey, SO, any idea when you might be having another seminar in the Tampa/St Pete area? I had to miss 1/2 of your last one and am anxiously awaiting the next!!

The next one in the Tampa Bay area will be at Mac's Sports in Clearwater on April 26th. This format will be a little different than the previous seminars we have done there. Macs is having a big "Exposition" type event that will be going on all day on Saturday the 26th.
There will be guest spearkers scheduled all day at set times to speak on all types of scuba gear, Tech gear, spearfishing equipment etc. in the classroom and the pool area. I will be conducting beginner, intermediate, advanced, and ultra advanced (stuff we shouldn't be telling you) seminars throughout the day.
Macs will release an events schedule as soon as the list of speakers is finalized and the times can be assigned. This way you can kinda plan your day according to who is speaking and what topics you are interested in.
I believe that these seminars will begin around 9:00am and continue well into the early evening. I assume that seating will be limited because it will not take place on the sales floor like previous seminars we have done there. If there is a sign up sheet you had better reserve early. I don't think their classroom will hold more than 20 folks.
Hopefully we can have the schedule posted on Spearboard in the next couple weeks. I know they are going to combine this event with a big scuba and spearfishing sale so bring your Visa card!
PS, this may be a great opportunity to have a pre-registration location for the Spearboard Open!

Will the seminar focus solely on tank divers, or will it cater to freedivers as well?

I really don't know a lot about freediving, but I think a lot of the body language and passive / aggressive stalking techniques overlap freediving. Speargun setups and rigging are a big part of the talk and I think you may find that interesting as well.
Why don't you come anyway, if you don't think it was well worth you time, I will give your money back!

Sounds cool. I especially appreciate the money back guarantee. Unfortunately, since my last post, I've found out that I'm gonna be out of town that weekend. Maybe I'll make it to the event on the 26th.

Sandibottom, your money is not necessary, just bring 10 good rock pile numbers and we'll call it even!
