..for political reasons.

Have you heard about this? No, I don't suspect you have because the MSM isn't reporting it because??? We hear about people setting themselves afire on the other side of the world but this isn't news???

I just got done reading his final long well thought out letter. The man was intelligent. That says nothing of any mental instability he acquired due to the butt raping by the judicial system. I would suggest that all read his letter in order to educate yourselves and understand the reasons he did it. It's your duty as a citizen. Some things need to seriously change in this nation. We as a people need to educate ourselves. What we have now is destroying us...it affects us all. We can no longer afford to ignore it.

"Some where along the line I picked up the crazy notion that it is better to be dead as a free man than to live as a serf. The government needs to be a little more careful about what they teach in our schools."

I read about back when it happened in both the LA Times and the NYT. You should try reading the legitimate media instead of waiting for your fringe sources to catch up.

Well then, I guess I'm a pretty good case study that reaffirms my premise. ..don't make me start posting all the meaningless crap headlines polluting the MSM news instead of important stories like this.
BTW, no comment on the content of the post, only attacks on the poster's character?? Tough crowd.

I thought the incident was extremely tragic and warranted further coverage that's for sure.

Furthermore, this news wasn't widely disseminated. A google search of "Thomas James Ball" quickly proves that. On top of that, an obscure title made sure it didn't catch on.
Ask yourself...if you want to get readers/traffic/viewers, why the hell would you use a term that hardly anyone knows the meaning of?? I'd fire the editor/reporter if he worked for me. There's only one logical reason it. The MSM controllers didn't want it read.

"The Latin-based English word immolate, which for centuries was rarely used, means sacrifice, without any reference to burning, so more generally self-immolation means suicide without specifying the method"

Marcus,

Nut jobs commit suicide every day all over the country for a myriad of reasons. Many times whatever reason they give in a note is just an excuse. You may think this one suicide should be singled out for national attention, but most readers didn't feel that way. The media tries to give people the news that interests them. That's what sells papers and gets people to watch the news.

Now you're playing games....citizens setting themselves on fire is not a common occurrence in the USA. I can't find any accounts in the US since the Vietnam war protests.
Nut job? After reading the guy's letter, IMO, he definitely wasn't a 'nut job'.
A citizen setting himself on fire on courthouse steps in a small town isn't news or interesting??? If the headlines were "Man sets himself on fire on courthouse steps" instead of the intentionally obscure self-immolation term, it would've definitely gained readership.
