how do you mount a gopro on your head?

I am about to buy a gopro. Gotta question. How do you all mount the gopro on your head?
I don't want to drill a hole on my dive mask since it's a prescription mask and I don't want to risk damaging it.
How does that standard helmet mount thing work on top of your hood? Will the camera fall off once you dive (upside down)?

i drilled my mask right where the nose meets the forehead. Put a screw through it and mounted it. pretty easy and cheap.

I got my go-pro flat lens from MAKO Spearguns and it has worked fine. I've been using it on their gun mount and have been happy, but I wanted to try something different, so I got that same head mount from mako as well. Used it last weekend for the first time and it worked well.

You have to really concentrate on not moving your head too much, but the video came out pretty well. I wore the head mount underneath a thin lycra hood (warm water in Florida now) and it was comfortable and secure. If the water was cold and I was using a neoprene hood, i think some water may leak in the front of the hood, not sure if it would be an issue. The head mount itself looks too easy to loose for diving without having it under a hood or with a chin strap or something. At the very least a safety lanyard on the camera to a "string around your neck"???? maybe??

I saw how other people drilled into their masks, but none of mine seemed to be adaptable to that. The head mount is really pretty inexpensive, I am going to try it tomorrow again. I wish i would have ordered it when i first got the camera.

MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT UNDER YOUR HOOD!!!! my dumb a** didn't and i lost mine !! and it was my first time taking it out to the water....

I bought a lycra hood, very thin, very comfortale, keeps the sun off and the jelly fish at bay.great for warm water... Good sun protection on the boat too.


.. As I think about it, it might be the perfect solution for coldwater too..... You could wear your normal coldwater hood, put the go pro headmount strap thingy over the hood and then wear the lycra hood over that to make sure you can't loose the camera.
