I began filming with sea life and then moved to GoPro. What a difference! For underwater photography Sea Life is the way to go but if you want to film YOURSELF while you spear or dive you cannot beat GoPro. The GoPro is smaller, HD, and you will get about two hours of battery and film with a 16gb card.

I have both and use the Go Pro for video. The only thing about the Go Pro is if you are shooting underwater then you will need a flat lens on the housing. The housing that it comes with has a concave lens and it will not focus well in water. There are a few places you can get a flat lens. I bought mine from Sartek Industries. Eyeofmine.com is supposed to be a good one also and Mako spearguns sells a flat lens that you can install yourself into the existing housing if you want to save some bucks.

The go pro has a bunch of different mounts. I have a speargun mount and a headband mount so it's hands free. I like the headband better so you don't get the recoil from the gun in the video when you shoot and you don't have to point your gun at your dive buddy to video them. The video quality is awesome for such an inexpensive camera also.
