I just bought a used 48 biller, and bought a new lineshaft for it. I am going to use the shaft that came with the gun as a spare/freeshaft.
I am looking to rig this from scratch. I was thinking of heavy mono, but I realized that it will be difficult(sp. ) to keep tension in the line so it won't fall off the line clip.
How do you rig your lineshaft?

I use a big game quick snap to go to the spring on my shaft when using a point, then unsnap the clip and double line through trigger and back up to ziptie for PH use.You will have to play with ziptie legnth to make both work.(I hope that makes sense??)

You could get a commercial line kit from SpearOne and rig that Biller with it.

I sometime ago rigged my biller 54 with the spearfishing specialties fast reload system and works great, comes as a package with everything you will need.

IMHO the quick system is the only way to go.

just my .02
But given choice if i were shooting freeshaft i would rather shoot a spear designed for free shafting, than a spear designed for line shafting. if you want a combo of both S.S. also has combo freeshaft/ line shaft.

It would go really nice with the S.S quick system

I try to use what I got. I don't think that I will be freeshafting much since I will be freediving. So I guess I can use it as a spare lineshaft. I will keep it in the boat incase I damage my main shaft.
I think I am going to get some help from INLETSURF tommorow on riging it right. Thanks guys for the info.
I will have a long (fish slaying hopefully) report when I go on spring break to the keys at the end of the month.
