Hey everybody...Im getting ready to buy a video camera to get some footage while spearfishing and also scuba diving of myself and others. I dont really have a preference but i wanted to see if any of you could recommend a great camera that produces a nice clear picture. Im looking at all different kinds cameras so please give me some feed back on cameras you have used. Even if I gotta buy a housing I want a great picture. Thanks!!

the best camera I have seen for the money is a Go Pro. They film in 1080 and also have the ability to take stills. They come with a reliable housing and it is easy to swap lenses to get good underwater video. You can find them almost everywhere for under $300.

Last weekend it was too rough to spearfish in the ocean, so my son and i were playing around in the bay. It was overcast... Go Pro 1080 w/ Mako flat lens:

If you select HD, it looks OK to me.

I hear the Contour HD camera is even better than the GoPro.

From what I've heard the contour is a good camera but the underwater case is sketchy at best.

what are you wanting in particular? the go pro is nice but pov. you can get two kids of housed cameras that will shoot video, point and shoot or slr with the slr you have the option to change lenses. but its bigger. you could also go full blown housed video. its the biggest.
you can get all of these things on ebay and save some cash.
go pro= $300
point and shoot = $700
slr = $1600
