They seem to work fine.I purchased one back in august and because of the crappy viz never had a chance to try it.Hopefully next april or may.Mako was selling them at discounted prices to get them out the door before the new ones came out.Don't know if the sales still on.

I had an older model go pro a few years back. It worked well until the housing flooded. As far as I can tell the new hd ones are much better then the earlier models. I have two friends that own them and have no complaints.

If you get the HD and run a Mac your fine. If you run a PC mac your fine, if you run a PC you may have to convert file size to edit but software can be purchased to avoid this. The flat lense from Mako is worth its weight in gold and the cameras are PIA to deal with. Alot of great fotage can be had under the right conditions. I love mine but I took it off my head to hold inside a cave while on vacation. I slung the headstrap over my shoulder and swam in, when I got to the beach it was gone. Im not the 1st to loose one out there, it happens.

Just to clarify you are saying that if you have a Macbook or I Mac you are good right?

Yes, the HD files do not need to be converted to edit with mac software. Some PC's require the HD files be .wmm or .mov - some of the quality will be lost because your dropping down to 780 during the conversion.
Im no tech geek, but I've had my share of problems plugging a go-pro into a PC. I currently run power director on win xp pro and I get good results.
Expect to read threads like this one when a PC chokes on HD file sizes:

The HD GoPro is an amazing piece of equipment. The housing and the camera itself has come a long way since the first model was introduced. I haven't had any problems with the newer housing model leaking.
If you are going to purchase a GoPro, buy the HD Hero, the image quality will blow your mind. But I will agree with Intaug when he says the Mako lens works like gold, and that using a Macbook is much much easier. In my opinion a Mac is the only way to go when editing the HD footage.
