View Full Version : I went to the Keys for the weekend and all I got were these lousy fish!

Me and two other friends took Ben(aka FishKilla) out Saturday. Went to the Thunderbolt then moved in to the reef. Beautiful day on and in the water. Conditions on the wreck were much better than on the reef.

I only took this one photo on the boat, to narced out from diving 120 on air I guess, but some video was shot. I think there may be a few moments of Fishkilla getting intimate with the local talent, I don't know if he will included such shocking video in his next clip/download.

The fun and games are over, now it' time for the dirty work. John and Ben in Marathon cleaning the catch and harasing the pelicans.

How deep was the reef you were diving?

the reef was a sloping ledge from 40- 90.

How was the vis on the thunderbolt???:D

vis on the thunderbolt wreck was @50' on the surface, 25-30 on the bottom. Sunday we spent from 10-12o'clock looking for lobster on the flats all we found was shorts. We then went out to looe key for some site seeing. Fishkilla shot some video there, while his two girl friends snorkeled and dove. Then we went to a ledge\drop that was 40-90. That's were we got these fish. the vis there was 15-30 with a weird thermal making for wis like heat rising off of pavement, neat to watch the mix but a little chilly below it. The hog was shot near the sand in 90, the blacks were shot in 50. The nice bar swam in front of Ben in about 60. We then went to the Adoulphous Bush and it got even worse, no fish to speak of, and the sun was going down so the poor vis was getting even worse. Saw a big black, so sleeping golisths, and Fishkilla is wondering what the record Mutton is because he saw a monster cruising past the bow of the ship. No chance for a hail mary. Photos speak mostly for thenmselves.

maybe i should try putting some shorts on after i dive? you never know when someone is going to take a picture of you while holding up fish. i'm going to give the whole trip report tomorrow. i just got in from down there and i'm exhausted. i will say this, it was an awesome trip!
