If you found 30 bundles of marijuana floating in the ocean, would you keep some or call it in?
A: Keep all the weed
B: Keep some of the weed
C: Call it in to the Authorities

I would do nothing. I would leave them floating there and then try to spear some fish from under them. I woudln't want to ruin a good "paddy".

i would take a couple bundles and pass it off to some buddies for lifetime boat invites :) I dont smoke so i have no use for it. maybe sell a couple bundles back to the mexicans for half price just for the joy of making them pay for their own shit.

It was probably the low budget dirt weed they grow down there. Not much value in that crap. I put i would keep some but that was an impulse vote. Now that i think about it i dont want a drug trafficing charge, so I would call it in or just leave it.
I like the idea of spearing fish under it, that would be epic!

This survey is flawed. It all depends on how big, or heavy the bundles are.

I'm with huntinchip but I'm not sure I'd be so compelled to call it in. I've got no interest in it but if there was another boater, in a different boat, I wouldn't spoil his Christmas party.

I would do nothing....
One of my friends was on a cattle boat a few years back and they found boxes floating adrift. They picked one up, opened it, and found it full of weed. The threw it back over the side and looked the other way.
You don't know if they are observing it or anything. Could end up being a huge problem.

True story, my uncle and his buddies found a huge square bundle of weed floating in the water just like that when he was camping\fishing down in baja years back. They were too afraid to be caught with it so they threw it in their bon fire that night and danced around it like wild indians.

We get this in the keys occasionally, with all the smuggling that goes on here. Youll hear radio reports of boats washing ashore or see coast guard cutters loaded with a bunch or cubans pulling into port. I did jet ski tours for several years here and saw tons of that, especially with us being a few hundred yards away from their station. Ive seen some pretty crafty hand made boats over the years. A few months ago a group of my friends found a bundle of weed washed up on shore at a beach early in the morning. Everything in the bag had gotten wet but some of them dried it out and smoked it. I saw some a few days later and it almost made me gag looking at it. It was all black and looked like dirt weed. I called it bilge weed cause it stunk like dirty boat sludge. Some of the people in the group were younger who didnt really care and were happy to have some and smoked it. My friend said "once you got over the terrible taste it wasn't so bad"....I laughed my ass off and called him a moron.

Definitely keep it. I'm sure it's shit weed but shit weed equals great edibles. Edibles at the club go for about $10-20 each. You're looking at a ton of money if you did it right.

The problem with keeping it is offloading it. In a place as small as Belize, there are no secrets. Everyone would know if you try to sell it. I don't need that kind of image at my age.
I voted to turn it in but the cops here would just sell it. I would probably just leave it in the water and drive on.

Here is a slightly related story- or at least its about pot smuggling.
I think the lesson is that if you are going to load your Cessna with pot, you should keep your radio on so you can respond to ATC warnings to stay clear of Obama's helicopter.

And right then a police helicopter flies over....or a patrol boat sees you ditching the weed they thought were going to bust you with. That would be my luck. :D

With my luck I'd get busted just looking at it. I'd leave it be or cut it open and disperse it into the sea. I've had the Coasties and FWC looking through my cooler at the boat ramp too many times to risk trying to slide by with a bundle of dope.
If someone else rolled up and started taking it I wouldn't call them in.

So, on a related note, if you found an abandoned smuggling panga floating off your local coastline, what would you do with it? This isn't an entirely academic question. Lots of pretty nice boats making one-way trips up from Mexico these days.
