COME ON COLD WEATHER CRONIES! Let's step up the New England area posts. I know it was a windy fall, but the baitfish were everything... meaning so were the stripers and tautog's! Let's see some pics guys! Show everyone what were made of up north! Avery A.

I didn't think tazers would work underwater! Nice striper. I'll bet they put up a good fight.

Ha ha with a telephone, good one. I gave up phone sex because I kept tripping over the cord...(I know, don't quit the day job)

Not much diving going on here...Christmas shopping, probably the next dive I'll go on will be the New Years Day Dive with Buzzards Bay Dive Center. It's always fun and good food afterwards.

Just saving my pennies for the Performance Freediving Course.

Clavinr, I don't understand the concept of taking a freediving course or one on "how to string up a fish". To me it seems pretty cut and dry that you need to be able to hold your breath, be stealthy like a fish and pull the trigger. Any details can be easily answered on this board by knowledgable members. They have a lot of courses like that in Florida. I've never heard of such a thing until I started looking at this site. We find someone who's good at it and stay on their fins for a couple of trips and it's on.

Nice fish tooth.

Do you SCUBA or freedive?

The people who are good at it (Chauggie) and a few others that I stay on thier fins all recommend the course.

I like the idea of concentrating on freediving for four days, just being immersed in the program. My goal is to break 100 ft. I am somewhat conservative when I dive here (limited vis, many solo dives) so, I do not go outside my comfort level. I'll be able to do that there.

Sort of like going to hockey camp...big difference in the season when you spend time doing drills, practicing hard, focusing on developing your basics, and good coaching.

Besides, it's an excuse for a road trip ;)

90% scuba right now but I plan on freediving tuna on the lumps soon. road trips are good. be careful doing 100ft, you're always out of air...gasp. let me know how the course was.

Good luck hunting for tuna! Be careful.

I snokeled until I got my first job and was able to pay for SCUBA gear and lessons at 15 (1979)...about three years ago I started doing more and more snorkeling/freediving for spearfishing. In the spring, summer and fall I go SCUBA diving once a week and freediving once a week...at least. All from either the shore or kayak. I have to say as much as I love SCUBA diving, I love the freedom of freediving. ???freedom of freediving??? you know what I mean.

I'm not big on motorcycles...loud noisy dangerous...but ask a biker "what's the big deal?" and they will almost always tell you "If you have to ask, you'll never understand."

Being a Helldiver (Awesome book) I'm sure you can understand that! Good lucka nd be safe! If you can't be safe, at least get some good fish! ;)
