I've marveled at the incredible videos some of you shoot with these cameras. So, I'm looking to take the plunge myself. I'll mostly be using it for land based travels-hiking, hunting and motorcycle touring with the occasional spearo video. I like the apparent 'basic' ease of use of these systems.

Which camera should I be looking at? Or is there something else I should be looking at?

Mike, I found this about the various Contour models:

And this side by side video - looks like the field of view may be a little different with the Hero being more wider angle.

There is a new Hero model out that you should compare to I would think..

Haven't tried either... However it looks like the Contour's UW housing is only rated to 10 meters. It's too bad because I was looking at the Contour HD for a motorcycle camera.

Here is another one, but the date may indicate older models.

I have the gopro hero and contourROAM. I my big review will be going up soon.

Contour seems nicer and is amazingly engineered. Plus if you remove the small lens you have a laser sight on your gun.

When I say amazing I Mean it!. I showed the camera and case to our engineering department as an example of excellence and forsight. I shoulda showed gopro as an example of failure, with its wide angle UW distortion.

I have a Contour HD camera and the housing I have is good to 500'+.

Why are you concerned about depth rating of a camera housing if you intend to use it for a motorcycle camera??

Cheers,
Mike

Because motorcycle duty will only be part time. ;)
