I'm looking at an open cell wetsuit after many years / various closed cell nylon suits. Specifically, a Yazbeck titanium lined: http://www.bluetunaspearfishing.com/yazbeck_wetsuit_snyper_titanium_7mm.html

If anyone can provide any input, it would be much appreciated. 1. Is there anyone who has this suit who might comment on it? 2. Does the titanium lining make a difference? Many thanks.

I don't know if it actually make a difference but I have been using Yazbeck 3mm yamamoto 39 suits for 3 years and they are great suits!! I'm a freedive instructor and spearfisherman. They can take a beating and hold up well. Very good thermal properties.

Good luck!

it does make a world of difference in my opinion. I am prone to getting cold and i never do with my titanium lined yazbeck. in the same conditions my dive partners have said they were cold i was warm and toasty with the same mm suit. it is also a lot easier to put on and take off due to a slick non frictional surface. hope this helps

There have been several scientific lab test of the supposedly titanium lined suits, and there is no validity in the claims whatsoever. It is either in you head (as in a placebo drug effect) or something else, like a better fit, for the coating is not the factor (nor the "gold" coatings).

Thanks. Might you recall where a reference to the tests might be found? The quick search I did suggests that they say the titanium won''t make the suit warmer, but they don't really discuss the off/on ease (which I believe is supposed to be its function):

Whether or not the lining helps you keep warmer...you can put the suit on without having to mix a solution or dip it in the cold water! I love mine and have beaten the crap out of it.

The ease of putting on and off can be attributed to the lining, it being of titanium or plush etc.

I was a mfg of suits at the time and had access to more data. I know there were several test conducted, all with the same results, bottom line, it is a sales gimmick.
