got a friend coming down with a boat this weekend, he asked me if i could get some good numbers. he wants to do some hook/line for grouper and i wouldnt' mind jumping overboard with the speargun.

i know the reef is covered in large hogs now for spawning season, and there are some decient snappers on the reef.

i'm just looking for some good numbers in fairly shallow water, or no more than 5-6 miles offshore of the middle keys (small boat and wind is supposed to be pickin up)

Hit some of the patch reefs off the North side of Marathon. There are lots of "white spots" you can sneek up on and toss a live bait.

lots of grouper in 50 -90fsw all along the reef edge. They will remain there until the water warms a little more. Had fun this weekend chasing them myself.

Try a spot called the Gap 60 - 80'. Came up with fish on every dive last July. Nothing big but fun. And if you see a Jew with a stringer in its mouth let Blue Gun know.
