Does anyone in Orange County have a planer that could be used for grinding some boards to an even thickness? I have a bunch of maple for speargun and bow building projects that I'd like to get the lams for as even as possible.

I have a 12" planer if you'd like to borrow it; no sweat.

I wound up getting creative/impatient (the two really drive each other) and built a jig with a spindle sander that actually seems to work pretty effectively. It's a modification of a jig I saw on a google search that used a harbor freight belt sander with a table built underneath. Only difference is a everything is rotated 90 degrees and it requires two preexisting straight edges instead of just one. I can't see it being used in a professional's shop, but it works provided you've got some patience (and a good respirator and dust collection system).
Thanks for offering though, I appreciate it though.

If you need anything, let me know. The bow projects are pretty cool looking; wish I had more time to build more creative stuff.
