What are your approx height and width dimensions? Obviously length will vary greatly.

What diameter do you mill the track on your rail to with respect to your spear? For example, if you are going to use a 9/32" spear, do you mill a 9/32" diameter channel or do you go up one size to 5/16"?

Thanks in advance.

I'm about 6' and way over 200lb. Usually the length topic comes after a dinner and a movie but maybe things are moving faster these days...

As for the track, neptonics sells router bits that are just a tad larger that the standard size to give you enough space for a couple of epoxy coats. There are some threads on this board about those bits. I used the one for 5/16 and works great.

Hurry and use the search function on the top of the page before some evil SB members Verbally attacks you for asking about a topic that has been exhausted in previous threads. The gun building threads are so comprehensive that anybody physically and mentally strong enough to build a gun would have to know close to nothing before starting a build with the help of what is stored in the archives. Good luck and post some photos of a sweet gun or at least gnarly shop accident.

You need to first figure out the length. bands, and shaft size. Then you can determine the other dimensions

Like kkeller stated I think it would be important to think about what you want to do with this particular gun. I designed my gun around what I'll be hunting(White Sea Bass/Yellowtail). My gun is 56" long 2.5" wide and 2" tall but I made it a bit "beefy" to soak up the recoil. It has a purple heart core with lams of black walnut and maple. On the flip side I had a gun that was made strictly of padauk that was 58" long 1.5" wide and 1.5" tall. It shot the same shaft that's on my current gun with bands tied at the same ratio but kick A LOT more.

One thing that I did was look through some of the different build threads on the board and see what you like. ReefGeeks thread :http://www.spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=104583 is a great resource. Good luck with your build and post some pics of the build.
