Sea Dogs went out today. We had 6 passengers on the 42 ft. Sea Dog Diver. Left the dock at about 8:45 AM. I'll make a long story short... the weather guy and NDBC must have been out drinking and screwing all night last night because the call was for 2-3 ft with a 10-15 K wind. Swells topped out at about 7 ft, but interval was sufficient to at least not make it to miserable. Needless to say, most everyone was feeling the waves.
Really foggy on the way out, but could see the sun peeking thru.
The short waves went and smoothed out by mid day. I myself was feeling bad enough to take my surface interval in the water holding onto the ladder. I had my lunch there as well. Anyway, enough crying...
First dive was on the Simarca wreck. Only had one shooter on the boat, he bagged a nice AJ. Saw several flounder, very nice, but no one arouind to shoot them. I dropped my knife (though that I could murder from above, but flounder was having none of that). Everyone elso cut their dives short as the temp was a cool 64 degrees. Visability was 35 feet. In the blue water above thermo, could see forever.
I saw a nice gag, but buddy was stringing fish as we watched it wave to us and cruise by. He dissappeared around the corner, and not to be seen again. I didn't carry gun, due to my job as divemaster for the charter.
Second dive was unproductive as well. Several divers sat out because of wave action on stomaches. One guy was brave as hell.. hucking up breakfast and dry heaving all day, but gutted it out and dove all day. What a guy!
We dived on the Argoil (sp) wreck. Water temp same (64), vis same until getting past thermo, then turned to snow. Vis was all of about 15 feet, and a strong current and surge. AJ's were everywhere, I could of netted them.. hahah.
Other than that, it was great on the first dive, but got progressvily worse as the diving went on.
Overall Diving rated at 5 out of 10 possible points. Or in english.. Crappy...
Tomorrow we are scheduled to go to reefs. I'll clue ya in after. Don't forget our tournament. Late registration available.. no weight in for 72 hours with late registration. Call me to register ($35.00) 385-424-1644
Warm regards,
Paul
