Natalena really enjoying the motoring about with my niece and daughter the other day. Went for a swim and caught the SeaWorld show by floating up to the rope barrier under the tramway. Good Fun!

Anyone else on the water with "Man's Best Friend"?

This little guy spent the first 7 years of his life living aboard a 30' sailboat full time. Started when he was 8 weeks old and fit in my hand. He sailed the east coast from the northern Chesapeake down to the Caribbean. He ate seafood almost every day for a year in the Bahamas, swam with Jojo the dolphin in the Turks and Caicos, chased cows in the Dominican Republic, and almost beat up a Rotweiller in a boatyard in Puerto Rico.

Looks like a Schipperke (Skipperkey)--Dutch barge dog--they love being on the water but require lots of attention--good friends had one.

The black one is Courage, hes and english pointer/american bull dog mix. Quite possibly the best dog in the entire world. The second is an Ibizan hound, hes a bad ass. Lightning fast and funny as hell.

Looking forward to your pics. The other pups all look like they're having a super time...especially the jet ski mafia pair.

The PFD is a "Ruffwear", about 50-60 bucks if I remember correct. It fits Natalena very well ergonomically, and has 3 fastex buckles and a fine-tune chest velcro that doesn't snag her hairy chest. ;)

Silent killer

kwtony
07-30-2012, 08:45 PM
I wish i could say he was silent. Hes a sight hound but when on a trail he will bark, the same ARF ARF ARF for hours....but he is 5 and was raised by blondie on the jet ski, Shes the other owner of the Jet Ski rental. Nicole. While shes a great mother to the dogs shes not as strict on their behavior as they need to be. Im not as afraid of the dog either. He didnt take too well to getting spanked when i first met him and would growl and show his teeth if you got on to him for doing something wrong. The first time he tried that shit, I tackled him and pinned him to the ground, showed him who was really the boss in the house and hes since stopped acting like an ass. Courage(the black dog) is a sweetheart and really doesn't do anything wrong to hard except play too hard with jack sometimes and over kiss people.

Thank you sir. I REALY REALLY want a German Shepard. I would get a side car for my chopper and that will be his seat. He would go everywhere with me and get certified as a rescue and service dog. Also teach him to find drugs too. But only a trick and not to bust people. haha. I will get one soon, just need a few more things before I can get one. What kind of dog does he have, and do you have any?

Wow, same thing with my wife. She didn't growl or bare teeth, but would grumble incessantly about "dive this, climbing that, etc..." I still can't get the correction collar on her, so I shock her by cooking dinner often.

Off thread: has anyone tried the static collars? It got passed around a bit with the dive team, and was hilarious on "10".

KW, along with German Shepard's, have you looked at Malinois and Hovawart's? Natalena is a Hovawart/Husky mix, and has zero vet issues at 8+ years.

Ephraim, we gotta run the dogs at Fiesta before I leave!

Visiting friends in Mendocino, Natalena went nuts with the 'target' scent everywhere.

I was keeping her in tune, and inadvertantly kept putting the weed in a red Leggs so I could tell the difference. It ended up teaching her to locate the shade of egg instead  Took weeks to break that habit.

This is an awesome thread! My family dog is a mut black lab/pitbull/something else but she despises the water and is scared of her own shadow. we got her from the pound and she was most likely beaten when she was real young. Recently moved out of the parents into a rental with the girlfriend, trying to talk the landlord into letting me get a pup his wife isnt biting though:down:

one of my dogs is now a certified therapy dog, in addition to spreading joy and happiness to many many seniours, sick kids and veterans, he can live anywhere and come with me anywhere. it is a great way around rental restrictions.

20 secs is a lot better breath hold than mine, especially trying to catch a crab with the mouth! ;)

Has anyone ever noticed that with larger breeds, when they pass, it seems to take a long time to replace them. I had a Shep/Rottie mix, and it was so emotional, it took years to get another dog.

Whether she is helping launch the boat with my dad and I or sitting beneath my sister or mom reading in the hammock, she is a happy girl. She is a water dog through and through. Whether it is 72* water in Baja or 49* water in Nor Cal, as soon as she sees water she is off in a flash to go for a swim or to just wade around.
