To all:

The forum is scheduled to be updated at midnight tonight. The forum may be down for an hour or so while the upgrade is done. There will likely be some bugs (broken links, etc.), so please report anything like that to me: scott@spearboard.com .

There will be a lot of new features to check out, so I will start a thread to address the new features.

You're welcome, guys. Hopefully you'll still want to thank me after this update, and all your posts won't be deleted. :)

Private messages should not be effected. Everything should transfer. The key word being "should."

Awesome...looking forward to it...

i dont see much difference and it is well after 12...Everything seems to be working.

I sent you a PM regarding the four broken links I found on a particular thread, but that was all.

Thanks for making spearboard what it is and always improving it for everyone's benefit.

There is a glitch we need to work through, so the upgrade was not done. Should be a temporary delay.

Maybe change the light grey font to something darker, but it looks like most of the links are working.

Nice job!!!

I definately agree, not enough contrast to the text. A darker font will make it much easier to read. Otherwise it looks good so far.

Scott,
I can't wait to learn the new format. Just at first look it seems like an improvement. Thanks

Thanks for the comments. I agree on the font. I'll add it to the list.

Scott, don't worry. Any down time will not be counted against the sponsors. The banners will also be better than ever. I sent an email to all sponsors, which perhaps you did not get.

Looks awesome Scott! Sorry I flooded the member'd picture Gallery, I just figured I'd go ahead and move them all over there. Again, everything looks great.

I noticed that when viewing the latest posts they're not listed in chronological order? Or at least when I hit refresh after making several posts I noticed that the threads I posted on didn't go to the top of the page.

Marcus: I've noticed that myself. If you click on "New Posts", it lists the new posts. If you then click "reload", it then only updates the threads that were originally displayed (in the original order that they appeared so that threads with newer posts will not appear at the top of the list). Hitting "reload" does not give you threads that have become active since you originally hit "new posts". If you want the newly active threads and for the newest posts to be in the threads at the top of the list, you must click "new posts" again. At least that is what I think is happening. :)

Make yourself an internet shortcut with this url
http://www.spearboard.com/forum/search.php?do=getdaily

It changes once you click it so paste text directly into shortcut. Gives all posts for the day.

Kind of liked the spearing hogfish logo that indicated which areas had new posts upon re-visiting - the notepad icons seem kind of generic....

Rob: By making an "internet shortcut", do you mean creating a bookmark or a favorite that uses the above url? I understand that you have to type in the exact language because after you click on the link it changes. Thanks.

Just go into your bookmarks and change the properties of that bookmark to that url.

Thanks for all your work Scott!
Add another to the request list for a different font color. :)
Ahhh, I also just noticed that you can insert smilies anywhere in the text. Before, if you tried to go back and insert a smilie in the middle of the text, it got tossed onto the end of the text. I like!
FYI, here's a broken link report:
The "Merchandise" links go to a blank page @

I like the water action at the top of the page...thats pretty sweet!

I dont care for the color much.

Would like to see FORUMS linked at the top so it is easy to get to the forums section quickly. On the old layout that part was easier to navigate.

I like the quick links section.

It's more a matter of getting used to the new format! I like photo section and seems to be a popular addition after only a couple of days.

It's a lot better than the FS forum upgrade when all the ads followed you around from page to page. Very clean and will be easy to navigate it once I learn it.

Thanks again Scott for you time and efforts!

I took Rob's advice and made a bookmark for the 'search daily posts' function, and then put that bookmark into the toolbar of Firefox. Spearboard at my fingertips, baby! The link also works for refreshing the current search results.

If you look at spearboard daily thats the best link to use. If you miss a day you may want to do new posts from the quick links menu.

What does the little + sign next to some members name in the Active user box mean?
