Hi fellow sparboarders...just wanted to say hello during my last moments with civilization. I just arrived to Panama and tomorrow am I head up to the pristine ĻIsla EnseņadaĻ. Itīs 90 degrees and weather forecast looks good. I know the guys have already ran into some cuberas, onos, trevally and wahoo. I wish I could post while there but there is no internet.
Hope to post some awesome pics when I get back!

Adios amigos!

Apex, I don't think they went spearfishing dude. I heard the Carnival down in Panama was to hot to let it pass.

It's not a fishing camp, it was created to be a surfing camp first, but the fishing down there rocks so and ppl (like me) started bringing their spearguns down there when they came with their surfboards.

Just got an email from the camp owner, guess you can shoot snook down there. Too bad I didn't see any!!

DISKSKO - are you in any of the these pics?? If so, looks like you had a good trip!!

Looks like Ben is probably swamped at work after his vacation. He got back early this week and sent me a few pics of his stay there. I don't want to steal his thunder by posting them before he has a chance to jump back online Looks like they had a great time and shot some pretty nice fish. Again some good snook were taken along with a couple of descent pargo with a sprinkling of parrots, triggers and various other species for good measure. I will be working hard to make it there next year. Deepdown and Spearooo are on their way down to the camp on Saturday for a seven day stretch. They should do well representin' the Eastsiiiiideeee crew....make us proud guys....dive safe and shoot a big one for those of us stuck at work.

Emil is right...I've been "paying" for my vacation this week by being swamped at work. Worth it though. :D

Here are some "teaser" pics. I am waiting for Les to email me a pic of the big cubera (35#s) before posting the whole report. Coming soon though... :)

ps. Wish I could have stayed for Carnaval. Hear it's da bomb diggity!

Nope. Wahoo have been hit or miss lately. I only saw one. Two were shot a few days before I got there but tore off. So was a rooster.

those "mullets" are actually milkfish scientific name Chanos chanos. If they were mullet they might be some kind of world record. First time I ever saw a pic of one the first thing out of my mouth was also "now that a big ass mullet" :D

There is a guy on Freedivelist that has a house in Panama and entertains us with stories of his spearfishing and photos of his teenage "housekeeper."

http://www.freediver.net/freedivelist/stories/ara-roper.htm

Here is his latest story. If nothing else, you may want to scroll down to the last photo of the housekeeper.

Also, he has written many stories in the past, many including nude photos of his young wife holding fish, so if you want to do further research, look at any story by Dix Roper.

http://www.freediver.net/freedivelist/stories/featuredindex.htm

I just refreshed myself, and the story titled "Tail of a Yellowtail" has some worthwhile shots for those with a purient interest in that sort of thing. However, I don't mean to hijack the thread by sending you off in search of nudes. The last few stories do actually tell about Panama diving.

I was hoping somebody would clear that up for me.

Yeah, Dix Roper writes some awesome stories about Panama and I tried using them as advice for my hunting. Interestingly, because of his stories of multiple big fish I was somewhat dissapointed at not seing many pelagics. Then, when I got back, I started emailing with him and he said he has not seen one single Wahoo in his last 2 trips. Mede me feel a lot better. It's hit or miss I guess...
