Killer Satellite Telephone Deal

Go to www.boatersworld.com and do a search for satellite telephones. They are selling the Qualcomm GSP-1600 sat phone for only $399.99 which is the cheapest I've ever seen for any new phone. You can get service from Globalstar that will give you 30 voice/data minutes per mo for $34.95 after a $50 activation fee.

Anyone have a sat phone, or can give feedback on them? It would make a great safety feature diving in remote places like the MG, or convenient if you trade in alot of commodities, and want to check out how your porkbelly futures are doing in between dives.

yes i have that same phone i believe,only difference is i paid about 900$ 2 years ago.amazing how much they dropped in price.works pretty good i,ve used mine in the grounds a couple of times.had to call my other half and let her know i was ok.she thaught i was nuts for taking my 25 footer out that far

HERE IS THE SCOOP...About 6 yrs ago Irruidium was the only sat phone company..I bought thers first 1100.00 phone and they are high orbiting sats..so small delay when you talk....then out came Global star..Low orbiting Sats so clearer and smaller delay.... Irriudium was chaper 11 by this time and said no way would they ever turn off sats and you would have no service,,,but they did and then you had ohone that did not work,,/Globals star only one out on market for one year.. We had to buy new phone again.. now Irruidium is up and running with gov't support and now I believe ..Global star is chapter 11..So this is why maybe the phones are cheap right now,,,Do some reearch on whic=ch phone to buy,,,,We may all be trading on our gloabalstar's next week and have to buy the Irriudium..See which they use in the Gov't..this will be our best bet...And thats all I got to say about this:confused: :D :confused: :D
