I'm jealous. I'd love to dive up there. My parents live in Bend and we have family in Newport so I do have hope that I'll get out there someday. What type of fish do you hunt there?

They are. Where do you go in WA?

I usually dive in the Hood Canal or Puget Sound. When I get the time and find someone with a boat, I go to Neah Bay.

Scubavu and I got in the water at around 8 this morning, one hour before high tide. I caught one rock fish and Scubavu caught three; he also spotted a legal-size spooky Lincod. The current got pretty strong about 2 hours after high tide. We spent about 3 hours by the next-to-last jetty. Water was 48F and I was trying out a new 5mm wetsuit on that dive which was warm enough.

Say WHAT ! 5mm 48 deg. 3 hours !! Your NUTS, have BALLS big enough to warm your whole body, CRAZY OR hairy like bear. My guess is WACKED OUT OF YOUR SKULL !!!
Sorry man the rain here in Sunny ? So Cal has got my already thin skin even thinner. Glad to hear someone on the left coast is having a good time.
More pics and stories please. You live in one of the most beautiful states on this side of the country please share it with us traffic weary city slickers.

Actually 5mm is about right for 3 hours. With a 6.5mm scuba suit I would get cold after 2 hours and cramping after 3 hours but with this 5mm Esclapez freediving suit I didn't even cramp after 3 hours. It is real snug and very hard to put on or take off though. No pictures this time. We're heading on to NorCal in April.

Hey Scubaian,
tell us more about Lapush, WA. Fish? Depth? Vis? Current? Access? Maybe we can hook up for a dive up there. I am interested.

IB Boyd,
The closest ab is just north of the Ca. border near Brooking. We're only allow 5 per year and 8" minimum. I rather go south to Mendocino near Ft. Ross for the abs. Come on up anyway we need more spearos.

Hopefully there will be plenty in April when me and Spearo come down. Hey I ordered a cheap reel. I will put it on my 50 or 75 gun. I have to see how I like it before I use it for WSB.
