What's Your Wishbone

Who uses what? Cable, solid wire, mono or nylon? I've got wire, but not liking it too much. Suggestions?

Ya, i can just hear the jokes coming in. I tried wire but the strands started breaking. have not tried mono or nylon. i do make up my own bands.

For the shooting I do its cable all the way. By the time the cable gos the the band stock is wearing too. Theres just some thing about feeling the power of a new set of bands at the start of a dive. I make my own too.

I also make my own ,prefer the abbiller heavy duty wire wishbone on 5/8 diameter sling.I do hear a lot of people complaining about wire snaping on them,if you keep your elbows together on the pull all the way to the notch you do minimize or eliminate this problem.
Most people tend to open their elbows on the last 1/3 of the pull for leverage,this opening /closing motion on the wishbone is what causes the wire to break as it would on any other piece of wire.

some of my steel wishbones are over 5 years old. I make new bands about every 4-5 trips out. rubber is cheap compared to missing fish. I agree that alot of guys spread their arms out for leverage. I work out at the gym and make sure i do lat pull downdowns,cable rows,etc.. pulling back 18" bands on a 48 seahornet is no problem. I'm in good shape but not a gym animal.
