With 2' seas forcast it wasn't hard to fet up for Sunday.Had along 1buddy and 1 fisherman/boat watcher.Boat watcher shows up 1/2 hr late no bid deal.Miss turn into gas station.....is this gonna be one of those?Boat starts ok.Start heading out ,little chop and NE swell OK no 40 mile run today.Loran is up ,then down and I haven't been to these culverts yet with GPS.Still haven't as the #s were for a broken bottom and ledge.We drop and were hoping to flounder.Buddy immediatly pops 2 gags 15 and 22 .I do the best SGT Schultz impression and see nothing for a while .Finally see the mother of all spineys under a crack and backed into his hole no back door.I spend almost 1/2 hour screwing around to no avail.Do my deco and come up to here everyone on the radio bitching about how well the fish were chewin.........yesterday.We catch b-liners and head off to another spot.occupied so are the next 3.Finally hit a non-published barge,did I mention it's raining by now.Fisherman didn't bring any foul weather gear.I watch him for an hour then find my x-tras.Computer clears and we strap on new tanks.SNAFU on ther way down slows me.We drop into the biggest school of 15#+genuines and 20#+gags I've ever seen.Buddy pulls back 1 band ...snap pulls back#2 snap.I move to avoid him,shoot.....dud.He shoots gun#2 a 14# genuine dies.I reload shoot a 18# gag dies .I reload ,dud 2 more times.He reloads another gag 25# dies.They are either spooked by now or LOTHFF.Never get within 30' again of dozens of Fatties.Try everything including herding then to sureshot.I surrender and head up .He shoots the anchor and we count coup.Me good captain ,heap poor spearfisherman,today.Got home by 4 tho.Heard Paul on the radio.Still only a few diehards diving thanx.
