Look Out Below
04-01-2003, 08:57 AM
Crew: seastalker, Merk, Bad English and myself
Location: Some place out of Sebastian
Vis: 15’ to 20’
Depth: 80’ to 100'
Dive 1
seastalker and Bad English hit one of my sweet spots only to find a few spinys and some slippers home.
Dive 2
Merk and I hit one of the ledges that has been producing the most bugs this year only to find out they checked out. Thus making our dive cut short exiting with triggers only.
Dive 3
Seastalker and Bad English drop on a ledge that is full of cracks and crevisus adding to the collection of spinys and slippers.
Dive 4
Merk and I this time hit a new ledge hoping to clean up. But again, a few spinys and triggers.
Dive 5
Seastalker and Bad English drop on another ledge with large cracks hoping for the mother load. But after about 15 minutes seastalker blasts out of the water gagging yelling, Mark this spot quick! My first thought was this must be the mother load of all… Well we get seastalker in the boat only to find out he was stuck under the ledge and he had to remove his BC to get out. Doing so sand must of gotten lodged between the bladder in his second stage causing him to be breathing water instead of air. His first reaction was ditch the gun, dive bag and make a quick accent. After a short breather and mechanical look see, Merk and seastalker jump back in where I marked his spot not only to find his gun and bag (that had bugs in it.) but to do a long safety stop.
Dive 6
Well it now up to Merk and I to do some creative chit as we still are lacking on the limit of bugs. So we run to a small ledge in 80’ only to find someone bottom fishing on it. Well I start putting a new number in and Merk starts doing some sort of snorting, banging monkey dance towards the boat and they leave!
Well it wasn’t the mother load but still added spinys and triggers to the pile. All in all a great day of diving with a final count of 19 spinys, 8 slippers, 6 or 7 triggers and a glass eye.
Great diving with you guys! Now it’s time to blast some fish…
