Whats up everybody my name is Randy. Been in WA for 2 years now and I Finally came around to gearing up to get back in the water. I'm originally from South Florida and been shore diving since I was 13. Took a little break while I was in the army due to deployments and being posted in backwoods duty stations but now that I have the time and the gear (Scubapro 7mm & Cressi pneumatic), I'm ready to hunt. Not too familiar with all the regs and the spots and I've heard the stories of divers/dive shops threatening spearo's for fishing at popular dive spots so I'm trying to avoid all that. Looking forward to contributing and sharing with this awesome community. Peace!

Thanks Northstar. I'm thinking of heading out to the coast this weekend and doing some camping/fishing. Haven't been out there yet, any tips/suggestions?

I am from Oregon and have not dove in your area. Maybe some of the Washington guys could chime in who know the area you are in. Post a report if you go!

Howdy,
As far as heading to the coast goes, Neah Bay is a key point. A protected harbor just inside the mouth of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The greatest concentration of possibilities in the U.S. northwest! A boat unlocks most of it, but a lifetime of shore diving as well. And generally the loosest regs in your part of the state.
And if you go, you are required to report!

Max and Tomo are right, Neah bay is really the best place to go this time of year. The best advice I can give is get a copy of the regs and start through them. They are 130 pages worth and not particularly clear on some details.
Lots of great diving around here, but not so much spearing.
Are you freediving or scuba?

Hey Adam, thanks for the advice. I had a chance to briefly go through the regs and I'm tracking the bag/size limits for a few of the areas I have in mind. I'm freediving by the way.

Beside Neah bay, areas that I've been checking out near me: Howarth park (Everett), Harborview park (South of Howarth park), Picnic Point park (Lynnwood) and a old wharf in Edmonds.
