Having the biggest boat in my family, I have been recruited by 8-10 family members to go to the Keys May 30th to June 3rd.
We are planning on staying around Marathon and are looking for a place to stay. Anyone know of any good outfits in the area that can house 8-10 people? I would prefer to be on the Atlantic side with a boat ramp/dock nearby. Accomodations don't have to be 4 star, we just need room for everyone, a kitchen, and as few rats as possible. (I stayed at Coconut Palmas one time & the rats would come out at night and try to violate your lower unit while you slept, if you take my meaning. They could stand flat footed & screw a dog, they were so big!)
What's the best fishing down there this time of year? There will probably be only one other diver going so I'll be spending most of my time with a hook & line.
Any of you guys that live down there, send me a PM & we'll hook up for some steel slingin!

Thanks ahead of time.
Jeff

There is a place on the water down there where you can rent a room, and the boat is right outside the door. I cannot remember the name. Fishing that time of year is easy. DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN! DOLPHIN!

The dolphin should be so thick that you can walk from Key West to Miami on the backs of the schools of dolphin. Easy to fish for too. My parents have a place up the road in Islamorada/Tavernier.

Consider checking out FL keys sportsmen charters at www.fksc.com - rent out their "moveable hotel" with 4 rooms out of Faro Blanco marina in Marathon this summer. It's got 2 kayaks, a small skiff, a kitchen you access/use if stock with your food/drinks, 2 wet bars youi can stock and use, deck with chairs, computer/TV/video, and breakfast daily for around $2500/4 days or $1500 for 3 days (for 8 people), sleeps up to 3 in each room plus a castro convertible couch and additional area for sleeping...oh, plus cleaning daily...For over 8 people add $100 per person. New business and trying to get going... Met owners last weekend and seriously considering using them myself...

Sombrero resort, on the Atlantic side, park you boat right outside your door, 95 -150 night, = about 20 for the slip, they do have a high tide ramp, or you can pay 10 bucks and use the one up the road 10 miles

Dude sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Go to Key Colony Beach. It's the best. KEYSPROPERTIES.COM has a listing of all rentals plus pictures. The island is 100 yds from Marathon only separated by a small bridge and is real close to Vaca cut so you can enjoy the gulf also. Gas, air, beer, Smugglers Bar, and the cabana club are all walking distance. We go alot and I have stayed all over that stinking island and nothing beats key colony when you have a bunch of people with kids or not. Plus ramps are close and almost all rentals have docking,95%.

Coco plum beach resort is pretty decent,2 story units 2 bdrm. with twins and sofa beds upstairs and downstairs, huge screened wraparound lanai.Price is about standard for the keys.

You can find also on key colony beach few houses on the water renting for the week ,that way your boat will be on the water on your backyard, prices can go between 1000 to 3000 for the week depending on what you want,go to flakeys.com .

I recommend Gulfstream Trailer park and Marina. The rates are very reasonable for double wides. They have a nice sheltered marina and a pool to soak in after a long day. Good fishing for Mangos and Tarpon right under the docks. Also I have pulled alot of spanish lobsters out of the nearby area, there is no size limit on them and no season either I think. That's your best bet for lobster when you are going. It's a short trip to 7-mile to the ocean side and plus you get those great gulf sunsets. Good luck.

But you would have to get a couple of rooms which is not too bad since they are pretty cheap...Some kitchenettes plus you can pull your boat up right behind your room too. Other bonuses...bring your dog if ya want and the iguanas eat the rats.
