With boot, Sherwood valve, nitrox cleaned ready to go. I need to sell 10 to get this price, and won't be able to place the order until I do so. Can be picked up in Steinhatchee, I can meet you in the Tampa Bay area, or at the Spearboard Open coming up in a couple weeks.

They can be filled if that's what it takes. Note that I am almost sure that Pressed Steel will very soon discontinue the manufacture of HP120 tanks.

"....bottle full of 'trox....
LMAO!
That is a great price on those HP 120s. Anyone wanting to get into Middle Grounds diving should jump on this. I have five of these PST 120s and would not use anything else.

Just talked to Blake over at Divers Direct in Orlando, he said PST is still making the tanks, but they will be coming with a new valve and cost more. (Around $320. They were $275) Basically, the new valve is a DIN with a Yoke insert so it can be used either way. The only problem is that the DIN isn't as deep as normal so you wouldn't have as many threads screwed in.

someone told me the opposite ,they told me they are basically going to call the lp tanks hp and quit making the hp.I guess some one from this board should get the straight scoop from pressed steel .

I heard they're going to change the dimensions of the tank slightly so that it can use a yoke valve. I think they were going to make the tank slightly wider, not sure if it is to be as wide as the lp.

I looked at the PST HP-100's they had with the new DIN/Yoke valve. The tanks looked to be the same size as an AL80. The valve was a DIN type with an insert screwed in to make it work with a yoke.
I don't see where the extra cost is in the valve. You can buy the yoke inserts for less than $7 retail and use it on just about any DIN out there.

Good idea!! Let us know what you find out. :D

Speargun: It doesn't work that way - at least with the insert that I have. The DIN threads on the convertible valve are shallower that with a standard DIN valve, thus the insert will screw too far in and your yoke won't have a seal.
My regulator is a DIN so that's all I generally use. The main attraction of the convertible DIN for me is those rare occasions where a buddy with a yoke reg needs to borrow my tank or if I am having problems with my reg and the only available replacement is a yoke reg.
I will have both types of valves on the tanks that I'm diving with you in the Open and will show you then if you like.

The point I was trying to make was that PST jacked the price by about $50 - $60 and the only difference I could see in the tank, was the valve.
Before I converted my reg to DIN, I used the inserts without any problems. I've heard that there are some DIN valves that these won't work on (200/300 bar?) but I couldn't say for sure. Now that my reg is a DIN, I don't worry about it.

Speargun: You are absolutely right: I missed your point - but mainly because I forgot the history of how I acquired my convertible valve.
About a year ago, I bought my OMS LP tank (a 98 rated at 2400 PSI). At the time, a friend of mine who was then the manager at my LDS told me that she could give me a $50 discount off the tank. When I went to order the tank, she explained all the features of the convertible valve that came with all the OMS LPs. I told her that, although all that was great, I didn’t really want or need all that stuff and would rather have a standard 3500 PDI DIN valve like the one that came on my 120 Aquaaire PST tank - and that if possible that I would like a further discount for the less fancy valve. Well we spent about an hour going through the LDS’s valve catalogs and making phone call to see what we could come up with. In the end, it boiled down to saving me $5 to $10, so I decided to go with the convertible valve. I know this lady pretty well, and I knew the actual commission that she made on her sales; I seriously doubt that I was being played - at least by her.
My point is that if you don’t need all the features of a convertible valve (which is apparently driving up the price of the steel tanks), then try to haggle the purchase of the tank with a less pricey standard HP DIN valve. Maybe you will be more successful than I was especially if you aren’t already getting a discount like I was. My guess is that they will tell you that the cost of going a la carte on the tank and valve isn’t worth it.
It all seems odd to me because I always understood that you were supposed to dive DIN when you were using a HP tank. I don’t understand how they can put a convertible DIN valve on a HP tank if it is rated 3500 PSI. The only reason that I could figure that they put it on my tank is because it was only supposed to be filled to 2400 PSI although I regularly fill it to 4000 PSI (per the manufacturer’s rated service life of 10,000 fills to 4000 PSI). Go figure.
Looking forward to diving with you.
