What are the dates? I have always wanted to go rig diving, and intend to do so in the near future. Do I need any special equipment techniques or procedures? This is an area of spearfishing that hasn't been discussed so much in detail.

Hector Hector, before you were a member, FredT did some excellent posts about rig diving, as well as the riding rig they used. He also had some anecdotal stuff about hunting. Very good stuff if you can find it with the search function of spearboard. I'll see if I can't find it, too, because we have had so many new members that it would be good to re-post it.

P.S.: Here is one of the links to a FredT post. Good reading ...

that riding rig is exactly what we use, and it definatly is a must for big fish hunting. other than the riding rig, a really good heavy duty knife, a cheap wet suit, experience and being in good shape, i can't think of anything else right now.

the Tarpon Rodeo in late july is by far the best rodeo in the world but they don't have a spear catagory anymore. but we still dive and fish pretty hard. you will se more skin than yu can shake your spear at.

I didn't know they stopped the spearing categories...oh well, I'll be staying in a friends fish camp anyway so we might as well go out. I'm looking forward to it no matter what. Can't wait to get some good Boudin and bugs and wash it down with about 100 TurboDogs!!:D
