John and Family, pic 1
John w/ big hog (John have you been working out? 12 oz curls?)
Hector with the hogs (ask him about the sharks on the middlegrounds wreck)
Fizition was also on this trip and scored very high, but unfortunately I don't have any pictures of his fish...

That Stilleto BC rocks! Big thanks to Zeagle for stepping up at the prize table. And to answer all of the inquiries, yes I am now getting rid of my Ranger and moving on up.
In that 3rd pick, that is Pat (Fizition) in the water waiting on Mr. Photographer, Inletsurf, to get done and pick his ass up.

Yes, that last pick is "queer eye for the hispano/asian spearfisherman". Hector will now be very stylin in his ultra chick Omer fins. I give him one trip before he breaks the blades.

Good job John!! Looks like you guys had a great day. How was the run out and back?
Spearchucker
06-26-2005, 07:17 PM
The ride out was fine, following sea. The ride back, mainly because we knew we had to push it hard to make it, was big time hard on the vertebra. We ran into a quartering 3' sea at about 28-30 knots coming back. If we did not have to make the weigh in, I would have slowed up to 23-24 and the ride would have been fine. We made the weigh in with five minutes to spare.

I busted my knee pretty bad on the ride back, an unprepared 4ft wave slam at 25 mph sent all my weight on top of it throwing it into the console edge. Its swollen and starting to get blue. I think I bruised the inside kneecap or something. John told me to quit whining and get a tampon for my mangina.
Anyway the ride back sucked in a royal kind of way.

I's kinda thinking it might have been rough from the way the NDBC was showing the significant wave height at 3.4' from the northeast a good bit of the day:D Hey, at least you made it back in time and the boat is still in one piece???

Way to go John...........our new Florida State Champion.
Congratulations!
Warning: Shameless Plug
First Dan takes the fish of a lifetime with a Commercial Rhino and now Spearchucker takes the Fla. State Championship with a Commercial Rhino. Needless to say, it has been an incredible week for Spearfishing Specialties.

As the 6th place champion,
I would like to thank all the little people out there who got me to where I am at today. . .
1. Momma Fernandez for fileting all those fish and disposing of all my fish heads.
2. The little people out there like my support team who worked so hard to get me where I am today. Those people include my boat Chauffer Spearchucker, Fisizion my stringer holder, and last but not least my fluffer Inletsurf.
Oh yes I am proud of my fins and just can't seem to let them go. . . :D

Some Interesting moments during the trip.
1. On the drive out a flock of flying fish bombarded the windscreen and splattered us with their blood. We took a couple of their remnants and put them in the cooler for later fun. :D
2. On one dive I saw a sea turtle float down and lay on top of some coral, then like a Puerto Rican Car wash a school of parrot fish came out and started pecking at the barnacles on his shell.
3. On my last dive on the MG Wreck with Pat we saw something pretty cool. 25 ft into the dive we saw a school of 40-50 sharks about 4-5 ft. long. I made a gillshot on an a sizeable AJ right through the gillplate. All that did was piss him off as he dragged me 130 fsw straight to the bottom with several sharks following right behind me. I wasn't too worried though because I knew the sharks were after the AJ and not me but it was pretty cool to see nonetheless.
4. On drive back, Fizision was wearing his wetsuit around his waist with half his ass crack sticking out like a plumber under a kitchen sink. Inletsurf says, "Duude, I bet you won't stick one of those flying fish in the cooler down his ass crack." :D 30 seconds later Fizition pulls flying fish from asscrack :D

Spearchucker, oh mighty champion of steelslingers, and sovereign dominator of all marine species that dare show themselves before you....congrats. By the way, you know that hogfish trophy you already had picked out a space for on the mantelpiece Saturday night? It looks beautiful hanging in my office ;) .

Believe it, I was that drunk. I paid for it the next day.
It was great to finally meet Bucket, headhunter, bottomdweller, fizition, Jaizzen. You guys rock. One question: who was buying all those pitchers after we had paid out? Was it the waitress? 20 pitchers or so total...Thanks for the drinks, all!

I...uh...developed a nasty yeast infection right before the tournament. Hopefully, I'll be doing the next WCC. :o

Congratulations John!
That was quite a thing - one man in two ties (for top diver and top hogfish). I wonder if that has ever happened before? If you could choose between winning one or the other - I'm sure that you got the one that you wanted.
Dean Philips also deserves a lot of credit for doing so well in such shallow water. I wish that both of you guys could have won.

I think that John is the first person in state history to be drunk before the awards even begun and holding a beer while getting his trophy but to be honest I think that he was still drunk from last night.:D One story I wanna know is how you guys left one of your team members behind at the weigh-in? Were you and Steve that f#*king drunk:D
Ooops - I totally forgot that Pats truck was still at the ramp.....

Congratulations, Spearchucker! To think, I did my first Spearfishing dive ever with none other than the current State Champion. He taught me many things on that first trip. First, he taught me how %$#& impatient he is. He taught me that Ford is the only truck to drive, and Florida is the only college that matters. Later, he would teach me the "twenty foot rule," which a couple months later turned into the "forty foot rule." :D
But most importantly, he taught me that contrary to what they tell you in PADI, it is perfectly safe to dive all day, and then drink 12 beers on the ride home. :D
