The Council request that all boats and divers have fun, dive safe, have dive insurance, and yield to the wishes and desires of the oil rigs and work boats. Also that all divers enjoy themselves at Venice but use good common sense with dealing with the Marinas and the fishermen.

7) Weight-in closes at 8:00 P.M. Saturday, July 16th . (subject to change if Council Officers approved due to a boat arriving late) Weight-in may start when the first divers arrived at the rodeo site on Saturday with awards and party to follow. No weight in on Friday, (subject to change if Council Officers approved).

8) Ports for the Shootout will be limited to the Venice area including Empire.

The Shootout as is all of our competition is base on a honor system. The goal is for Council members to have a spirited competition and get know each other (a little bonding and camaraderie), and enjoy each others’ company. As those who participated it in the past will attest, it is lots of fun and is growing in popularity each year. The river is very low and visibility should be excellent this year.

Each council registered club is requested to support the Shootout by a donation $150. Individual divers may make a donation of any amount and donate prizes and/or entrance prizes. Rafe is bankrolling the shootout paying for the T-Shrts, prizes, food, and beer. Special Thanks to GIT ‘EM for coming up with the first $150.

The four (4) major awards will be Glass Sculptures similar to 2004 Council Awards.

The Shootout site is located at Rafe’s beachhouse in Boothville between mile markers 7 & 8. The 1st house past PHI heliport on the left side of the road going south. The house set back about 150” and is white with some large oak trees in the front. Not to mention the garage door has been stuck in the open position for the past 6 months and will probably still be open. A sign or banner will be on site. There is parking space for at least 20 to 25 trucks. Rafe’s house has five (5) bedrooms and can sleep 30 to 40 divers, but most not in beds. If you need a place to sleep, you are welcome to stay and party for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Please bring towels and bedding material: sleeping bag, or air mattress, or a foam pad. A meal will be served Thursday, Friday and Saturday night and beer will be supplied for the Awards Program. Rafe knows how to put on a party. It is requested that divers stay over to Sunday and drive home or have a designated diver. NO DUI OR DWI’s are allowed.

Please note if bad weather cause us to cancel the shootout it will be rescheduled for the middle of August.

Please mail all donation and tickets request to the LCUDC, c/o Terry Migaud, 3513 43rd Street, Metairie, La 70001-2840, tgmigaud@cox.net or (504) 833-1884. Donation may also be brought to the rodeo site.

In conference with big chief Rafe, the council shootout is on for this week-end. The long-term weather looks good. All divers need to be known before Firday, July 15th @ 5:00 AM. Call me @ 504-833-1884 or e-mail @ tgmigaud@cox.net before Thrusday morning to commit. I expect to be in Venice by Thrusday morning or on the way. Payable ($40) at the rodeo site.
We are expecting up to 50 divers. Prospective club members may dive under the club they are prospective members of.

Rafe has great prizes for the 8 fish(es) catagories (1,2,3) (Amberjack, Barr, Cobia, Grouper, Jack Cre, Red Snapper, Drum, and Miscell) and awards for the 4 major awards (Club, Boat, King, Skin) similar to the council awards of last year.

If you are planning on staying at Rafe's, there's lots of room but all beds are taken so please bring something to sleep on and your own towels. If you are not staying at Rafe's, please stop by for something to eat, good company, and settle-up for the shootout. Rafe has imported a Chef from Houston to do the cooking. If you coming in for Firday morning or just Saturday, we can settle-up when you arrive. Rafe's house is the first house past the PHI Heliport on the River side. It is a large white house with large trees and it sets back from the road. Lots of parking area. It is very easy to past up. It is between Mile post markers 7 & 8. There will be a sign in the media at the house. You may bring folding chairs and tables.

You may arrive after 3 PM on Thrusday, a meal for thrusday, firday and sat nite. Please bring your own drinks. Saturday nite the beer is included.

Special thanks to the Git' em and the Hell Divers for a $150 donation and the Frogmen has promised a $200 donation. Any donation by clubs and/or divers may be brought to the rodeo site. Rafe is backing the rodeo at no cost to the Council. Terry M. put together and paid for the cost of the major
awards. Rafe will have t-shirts for the divers.

We will weight fish on Firday nite, but each diver is responsiable for his own fish. Please do not leave fish on the ground, but place them in an ice chest or dispose of them properly.......

A $50 calcutta for the largest "legal" fish, you must be paid before shooting the fish. New Fishing License was due July 1st.

See you Thrusday, Firday, or Satday at Rafe's.
