Aloha everyone

Well today just a few days before I must return him home to Florida my son Nicholas shot his first fish (2 actually) freediving at age seven! We had a boat load as Daryl Wong, Scott Merlo his two sons James and Riley and his niece Chyna explored the back waters of Kaneohe bay. The night before we went out I made Nik a special 75 cm railgun after he went to bed and had it laid out right next to his "Lucky Charms" cereal. He was so stoked to get out and give it a try. The first atoll we came to we jumped in and off the kids went. Nik started shooting right off the bat his Uncle Daryl said the kids a spitting image of me "shoots alot and likes to kill rocks", well just like Babe Ruth sooner or later he got lucky and stoned his first snapper!

Also later in the day Scott Merlo who is known for being one of the most skilled speargun makers in the world asked if Daryl and I could make his son James a gun just like the one Nicholas used. James picked a red-splash 75 cm gun for the Kelp beds in Northern California and Daryl and I were very honored to build it for him!

Well I am going to have to ask "one very special girl" to post the pics for me as working on a computer is light years more difficult than building a speargun! Her and I should make a great team! :thumps:

My pleasure to help out with the pics! Although I love "Lucky Charms", if you build me a gun can you just leave it on the nightstand? :D

Looks like you guys had a great time!

Nice Toau! I took my ten-year son old out at Mauna Lani on the Big Island yesterday for about six hours with his three-prong, but the only thing he poked were my Uhus and Munus hanging from my float fifty feet away! I guess it's time to get him a Wong gun just like mine! A couple of days ago we dove at Honaunau Bay in South Kona and swam with a couple dozen dolphins for a couple hours. I think that was the best dive ever, even though we kept our firearms in the car. Aloha!

Rick,

Snapper (Ray Odor's Grandson) here, from South East Asia.

That must be an awesome feeling. I myself have a 7yr old daughter and 4 yr old son. They were just in Fl w/Ray and tried getting in the water a few miles of the coast, but the Red tide was in full affect. The kids had a great time anyway. I remember when pop made my first Ray Odor Special; sized just right for a 6 yr old. I can’t wait for the day when I can share that with my kids. I know you’re a proud poppa.
Congrats on all.

Since I last saw you at your office, I've been on my Joint Venture. I got to dive in AUS, and tomorrow hopefully another fish slaying site at my current port of call. Give you more later on that.
Oh yeah, do you guys know of any good spots to dive in the Philippines, just in case we stop there for one of our Training Exercises?

I’ll be back @ home port DEC05 for crew rotation. Anthony Bartelli will be coming on as the CHENG. After turnover, he should have a 9 month tour & 6 mth Dep.
What does that all mean. I’ll be on the LSV’s (next door again) hoping to get the honor of diving with you guys.

Until the next time,
SAIL ARMY!
