I need help picking up a bluewater gun...

I'm already buying a 120cm Rob allen reel gun for the reefs...
Have a 48 biller with a jbl reel as a back up...

Now what should I use as a blue water gun...reel or float...can you use floats scuba or only freediving...

I just got my scuba license...now i need the advanced one...and nitrox..

When you say blue water, do you actually intend to do blue water hunting? Not much going on in the blue water, lots of waiting and breath holding. But either gun you have will work if you need it too. Most of the fish that you would need bigger gear for are illegal to shoot. Besides maybe a tuna or dorado, you should be ok. When you shoot one two big, and your equipment fails then you know for sure it's time to upgrade.

You could just clip a line and float to the back of your reel gun when you are in the blue incase you shoot something that spools your reel you can let go of the gun without fear of lossing it and still have a chance at landing the big one. Another thing you can do is get thicker shaft say 8mm or more so you can put more hurting on a big fish. Unless you are going to go to mexico or panama you will be fine with the rail gun. With two bands it can make accurate 20-25 foot shoots. I have taken several large Amberjacks with relative ease. RA are a great all around guns for florida if you get a cannon it will likely collect dust. I have yet to shoot a wahoo or big bull dolphin but I have been preparing for that moment for some time an I hope it will come soon. I hope that when my time comes I don't endure a failure for lack of being prepared.
I have been considering a trip to mexico were a blue water gun would make sense and by all accounts the choices seem tough, it would probably be a toss up btw. Riffe metal tech closed track or a wong gun.
hope this helps a bit
Here is a pic of my baby
A riffe C-3 it is a lovely piece of work and perfect for hunting the reef
